About Our School

Mission Statement

“St. Gabriel School is dedicated to fostering each individual’s potential in mind, body and spirit in an environment of self-respect, tolerance and Catholicity.”

St. Gabriel School is located in Burlington, ON – south of Upper Middle Rd, between Guelph Ln and Brant St.  The school sits adjacent to St. Gabriel Church and we are part of the Halton Catholic District School Board and are a feeder school to Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School.

Our school has two gyms, a stage, a library, a full computer lab, and a beautiful Peace Garden in the centre courtyard of the school.  Our facility has been adapted with the special needs child in mind. We have a special bathroom and change area and an elevator that makes the second floor accessible.

The school works in partnership with the church. We belong to St. Gabriel Parish and are fortunate to have priests who invite us to celebrate Mass at the Church, to visit the school for grade level liturgies, and administer the Sacraments for our students.

Our school offers programs from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8.  St. Gabriel is the designated Catholic elementary school in Burlington to offer the Extended French Program (grades 5-8).  As of September 2007, St. Gabriel students have been wearing a mandatory school uniform.

We have a YMCA daycare facility run by the city that offers an after school program. Local community groups also use the school in the evenings for activities and clubs. St. Gabriel offers a Breakfast Program five mornings a week, sponsored in part by Halton Food for Thought, offering a healthy start to our students.

Through the efforts of our staff, we offer many extracurricular activities for the students including, Green Squad, Choir, Chess Club, Sports Teams, Computer Club, Games Club, Musical, Battle of the Books Teams and many more.

As a staff, we work tirelessly in bringing all of our students into a closer relationship with our loving God.  We have a Focus on Faith Committee that plans activities throughout the year that highlight our Liturgical Seasons and nurture the faith of both our staff and students on a daily basis.  We are grateful to have been chosen to do God’s work with the children entrusted in our care.
