Our school will observe National Sweater Day on Friday, February 7, 2020. All students and staff are encouraged to wear a warm and comfortable sweater this day as we will be lowering our school temperature by a couple of degrees. Heating accounts for approximately 80% of residential energy use in Canada. If all Canadians put on a warm sweater and lowered their thermostat by two degrees, greenhouse gas emissions could be reduced by four megatons.
Our calendar for the week of February 3, 2020 is below:
In order to help slow down climate change, National Sweater Day raises awareness about the importance of saving energy and hopes to inspire you to turn down your thermostat. On February 7, St. Francis of Assisi School will be turning down the heat slightly to recognize the importance of saving energy. Heating accounts for approximately 80% of residential energy use in Canada, if all Canadians put on a warm sweater and lowered their thermostat by two degrees, greenhouse gas emissions could be reduced by four megatons.
