HALLOWEEN DANCE-A-THON UPDATE

Thank you to our St. Elizabeth Seton Community for all your contributions to our Halloween Dance-A-Thon!  We managed to raise $11,835!!! Your dollars will go towards many different things at school such as technology and outdoor/indoor equipment.  The gymnasium was filled with smiles and laughter the entire day!  A special thank you goes out to our Catholic School Council members for all their support around this event.  It was a great success!

PROGRESS REPORTS

Progress reports will be sent home electronically. In addition to the progress reports, a separate email will be sent which will include an infographic and page 3 of the reports which the students are asked to fill out. 

INTERVIEWS

Parent-Teacher interviews will be taking place virtually on Thursday, November 25th (from 3:30 pm – 8:30 pm) and Friday, November 26th (from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm). You will be sent a link that will allow you to schedule a time that fits with your child’s teacher’s/DECE’s, schedule.  All appointments are based on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Once the scheduling system is open, you will be notified.  You will be able to schedule appointments up to November 24, at 11:00 pm.

KEEPING CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS CONTEST

Any student currently attending an HCDSB school can enter the Keeping Christ in Christmas contest.  Entries will be open from November 5to December 3, 2021.  Please click here for contest details:

INDIGENOUS AWARENESS MONTH

Throughout the month of November and during this school year, HCDSB students and staff will acknowledge the contributions and legacy of First Nation, Métis, and Inuit peoples in Canada. We recite the prayer for Honouring the Land and Territory over the PA each morning to show solidarity with the Indigenous people. 

November 7 2021, is International Inuit Day. Here are a few facts:

  • Approximately 155,000 Inuit live across Canada, Greenland, Alaska, and Russia
  • Three-quarters of Inuit in Canada live in 53 communities in the northern regions of Canada called Inuit Nunangat. Inuit Nunangat is comprised of four regions: Inuvialuit (NWT and Yukon), Nunavut, Nunavik (Northern Quebec) and Nunatsiavut (Labrador).
  • At the 2006 ICC (Inuit Circumpolar Council) General Assembly in Barrow, Alaska, November 7th was proclaimed as Inuit Day to honour the birth date of ICC visionary, Eben Hopson, Sr

November 8 2021, is National Aboriginal Veteran’s Day.  Here are a few quick facts:

  • Over 3,000 Indigenous men and women fought in WWII
  • During the War of 1812, Indigenous people were vital allies in protecting Canada from our enemies Courtesy of Government of Canada

NO HATE IN HALTON

The #NoHateInHalton Campaign will launch on Monday, November 8th in schools across the Halton Region. This is a community campaign that was developed by our Halton Regional Police Services in collaboration with the four school districts in Halton.

St Elizabeth Seton will be promoting this campaign through various activities in the classroom and on social media. We are fortunate to live in such a vibrant and diverse community and are committed to nurturing a safe, welcoming and inclusive school where all students, families and staff know they are valued, respected, accepted and safe. Let’s work together to ensure that there is #NoHateInHalton!

REMEMBRANCE DAY LITURGY
