In order to pray well, we need to have the heart of a child. ~ Pope Francis

Shrove Tuesday is quickly approaching. The tradition of eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday came about as a way to use as much milk, fats, and eggs as possible before the beginning of Lent. Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent which is a time of fasting for Christians.
This year we will be celebrating Shrove Tuesday/ Pancake Tuesday with a Pancake celebration on Tuesday, March 5th. Continuing our school’s tradition, each child will receive a snack of one or two pancakes. Please note that this celebration will not replace lunch.
If you DO NOT want your child to participate, please ensure that you advise your child’s teacher in writing. Please note, in case of allergies, that we will be using “Sweets from the Earth” Whole Wheat Pancake Batter. The batter is peanut & nut free; dairy, lactose, and egg free, sesame free; non-hydrogenated and trans-fat-free; free from artificial colours, flavours, and preservatives. Contains soy.
Volunteers are welcome to assist in making and distributing the pancakes! Any family members who would like to volunteer (and have a criminal reference check on file at the office) are asked to email Marijana.firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to this special celebration. We are grateful to Parent Council and the many volunteers that make this day possible!
On Wednesday, March 6th, at 1:15 p.m. we will be having our Ash Wednesday Service in the gym. Our Lenten mass will take place on Thursday, March 21 @ 10:30 a.m. You are welcome to join us as always!

Parking Lot Safety~
Thank you all, we have noticed some improvements in the parking lot this week. We ask parents using the Kiss and Ride on the Southside to please avoid stopping at the gate to let students out as it creates a traffic jam on that corner. We kindly ask you to pull ahead and allow students to walk back to the school yard. Thank you for your cooperation and continued efforts to keep our community safe!
Are You Moving?
Families are reminded to contact the school if any of your personal contact information has changed or if you are moving out of our school boundary.
Please note that students will be dismissed at 3:10 pm as usual on Friday as there is no early dismissal before the March Break. If you will be taking your child home early, please notify your child’s teacher and the office. We wish all our families a wonderful March break. May you find time to rest and spend quality time together. We will see you back at school on Monday, March 18th.
