Welcome Back & Happy New Year!
God of this New Year, we are walking into mystery. We face the future, not knowing what the days or months will bring to us or how we will respond.
Be love in us as we journey. May we welcome all who come our way. Deepen our faith to see all of life through Your eyes.
Fill us with hope and an abiding trust that You dwell in us amidst all our joys and sorrows. Thank You for the treasure of our faith life. Thank You for the gift of being able to rise each day with the assurance of Your walking through the day with us. God of this New Year, we praise You.
IMPORTANT! January 5th Return & Daily Screenings & Confirming With Staff
As you know, the provincial government announced a delay in the start of instruction for students until this Wednesday, January 5th. Additional changes have been made with respect to access to PCR testing and reporting protocols. Please click here to the Board’s message about the upcoming changes. We kindly ask all parents to continue to be extra diligent as we see COVID-19 cases rise across the province and region. Please ensure your children (and siblings) remain at home if they are not feeling well and are reminded of safe practices, such as consistent hand hygiene and correctly wearing a mask at all times. It is essential that the provincial daily screening tool (link below and found on our homepage), which includes COVID-19 symptoms, is completed at the start of each day.
Confirmation of the daily screening
As we did in September when we returned to school, the Ministry of Education has directed all schools to implement daily confirmation of COVID self-screening for all elementary students attending school in person. This confirmation will be in place for the first two weeks back, after the break (Jan. 5th to 7th and Jan. 10th to 14th) and perhaps beyond that point. Parents and guardians are asked to complete the mandatory Ontario Daily School Screening Tool for each child every day before leaving home for school. If your children do not pass the screening, please keep them home as per the instructions provided. If they pass the screening and it informs you to send them to school, confirmation will be needed with classroom teachers in one the following formats:
1.) Complete Confirmation of Daily COVID-19 Student Screening Log (provided by the school), which your child(ren) bring back and forth to school each day. This log (hard copy) was provided for students the week just before the break. Here is a copy for your reference or if you need to print a copy: Confirmation of Daily Covid-19 Student Screening Log
2.) printed copy of “pass” from the screening tool each day, or email the results to classroom teacher (you may do this directly from the tool after passing the screening). Please confirm this method in advance with teaching staff.
3.) Grade 7 & 8 students may show proof of pass (day/time stamped) on a device
Please note: we will need to follow up with any parents if we do not receive confirmation of the screening results and possibly requesting that students are picked up from school. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we follow through with these mandatory measures.
Important reminder – Families who have travelled outside of Canada over the Christmas break are reminded to monitor updates to federal travel directives and mandatory isolation periods for students. Please refer to the Government of Canada’s instructions for travellers from outside Canada for more information.
Inclement Weather and Bus Cancellations
As the more severe winter weather is fast approaching, parents are reminded to visit our Board’s website for the most up-to-date information regarding school closures. On these days, there will be no instruction for students (live synchronous or in-person).
Looking for notifications on bus delays and cancellations?
Halton Student Transportation Services (HSTS) provides important information for parents and students who ride the bus to and from school. Bus delays and cancellation information can be found directly on the Delays & Cancellations page. Bus cancellations due to inclement weather will also be posted on our Board’s homepage.
Kindergarten is an exciting milestone for your child and for your family. Our school offers a full-day, 2-year Kindergarten program, designed to engage curious early learners through different kinds of play, that help children learn how to reason and problem-solve as they interact with one another.
When Can My Child Begin Kindergarten?
To register your child to begin Junior Kindergarten (Year 1) in September, 2022, your child must be four years old by December 31, 2022. Children enrolled in Senior Kindergarten (Year 2) must be five years old by December 31, 2022.
