Weekly Update – Nov. 22nd to 26th

Lord Jesus, I thank you for the gift of love. Help me to pray each day, and fill my heart
with Your love, for it is You who gives me the strength to love others as you love me.
I make this prayer in Your most holy Name. Amen.

It was great to focus on Bullying Prevention and Awareness as a school community last week. We will continue to focus on our daily message of celebrating our differences and caring for each other this week. This work will be supported by messages from our Student Ambassadors and continued activities throughout the week. We continue to emphasize that bullying-like behaviour in person and/or through electronic means is never acceptable. We ask that you please continue to monitor student devices on a regular basis and remind your children of the importance of avoiding inappropriate behaviour.

Progress Reports & Parent/Teacher Conferences
Progress Report Cards and the Kindergarten Communication of Learning will be sent home via email this Wednesday, November 24th. To access your children’s report cards, you will need access to their Ontario Education Number (OEN).

As we have been communicating, we will hold our traditional parent/teacher conferences on Thursday, November 25th (3:15 pm – 8:15 pm) and Friday, November 26th (P.A. Day) during school hours. Our conferences will be 10 minutes in length and will take place by phone or virtually on Microsoft Teams. In case you missed the previous messages in our Updates and by email, please click here below for step-by-step instructions for booking conferences with teachers. Please note the deadline for booking is tonight at 11:00 pm.

After booking your time with teachers, they will be in touch to confirm the method you chose and provide links if necessary. We look forward to connecting with all parents and please let your child’s classroom teacher(s) know if you have any questions.
Fresh From The Farm Pick Up!
Thank you to those parents who picked up their fresh vegetables and apples on Friday during our pick up time. If you did not have the opportunity to do so, please ensure you contact our Catholic School Council chairs ( or our office tomorrow to arrange a pick up time. Thank you to those members of our council for your time and effort in planning this event and arranging our pick up of items.
Thank you to those parents who confirmed their availability to assist with school activities and those who have already been in to volunteer! While we have received assistance already, we could still use additional help with the following:
  • Monday mornings (roughly between 8:30 am and 9:30 am) to prepare and package classroom snack bins

  • Thursday lunches (roughly between 11:00 am and 12:30 pm) to help distribute pizza for our Pizza Days

  • If you are available and interested, please contact Mrs. Dunn ( and identify which programs you would like to assist with. Please note that all volunteers must show proof of vaccination and complete our visitor screenings. Thank you in advance for your generosity. Your involvement makes a big difference in the life of our school and for our students!

We will also be collecting new mittens, gloves and hats for those in need, as well as non-perishable food items for our Advent food drive. More details will be sent in next week’s Update.

Human Rights and Equity Advisory Council
Our HCDSB schools are committed to creating safe, inclusive and welcoming learning environments that support student achievement and well-being in our Catholic schools. Human Rights and Equity are guiding values that are consistent both with Catholic Social Teaching, reaffirming the dignity of every individual, as well as the Ontario Human Rights Code, which safeguards students and staff from discrimination based on the protected grounds.
The Board’s Equity and Inclusive Education Steering Committee is in the process of forming a Human Rights and Equity Advisory Council (HREAC) to engage community stakeholders including parents, students and community organizations.
The purpose of the HREAC is to assist in identifying community needs and to provide advice and guidance on addressing systemic barriers and supporting historically underserved members of the 2SLGBTQ+, racialized and Black communities in the HCDSB.
Parents/guardians and students in Grades 7-12 interested in serving on the HREAC are invited to submit an application online through the HREAC Membership Application Form
