Weekly Update – April 5th – 9th

Happy Easter!

God our Father,
by raising Christ your Son
you conquered the power of death
and opened for us the way to eternal life.
Let our celebration today raise us up
and renew our lives by the Spirit that is within us.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

We hope this special day and the resurrection of our Saviour provide us all the ability to reflect on our many blessings and a genuine hope for brighter days ahead. Happy Easter!

Light it Blue for Autism Awareness – Tuesday, April 6th!
This Tuesday, April 6th, St. Dominic will light it up blue for Autism awareness! We celebrate students within our own school community and for all around the world with Autism. We ask all students to wear a blue shirt (uniform or non-uniform) and accessories (hair, jewelry, etc.) with uniform bottoms. Our school will raise our flag for Autism in our halls and also engage our students in activities to celebrate this day! Please click here to visit Autism Ontario to learn more about this special day, in addition to other information.
Halton Food for Thought Programs:
Halton Food for Thought (HFFT) is partnering with Food for Life (FFL) to provide weekly HFFT Healthy Student Snack Bags that consist of a minimum of 3 nutritious snacks (15 items in total) per student per school day, e.g. fresh fruit, cheese, granola bars. This is a universal program that any student, whether they learn from home or in school, can access without registering and without a fee. HFFT will be updating pick-up locations to meet the needs of the community, so please continue to check the link below for any changes. (List of current pick-up locations). The organization delivers to our school to support particular families on a weekly basis. If you feel you could use some support, please let us know at the school and we will be sure to work with the organization to make appropriate arrangements. You are also welcome to contact Halton Food for Thought, as well and review the pick up locations above.
Catholic School Council – Parents’ Corner:
Catholic School Council sends a very Happy Easter to all our St. Dominic Families!

Thanks to all who participated in the Science Night. It sounds like a lot of fun was had by all, and kids and parents all learned something new! We’ll be sending out a feedback form – please let us know what you thought of the program and if you think we should offer something like this again!

Our Parent Survey was sent out on Thursday – a huge thank you to those of you who have already completed it! We look forward to taking all the feedback and using it to better serve our school community. Please CLICK HERE to complete the survey!

Sending Home Students Not Feeling Well & COVID-19 Protocols:
We thank all parents for your continued patience and understanding when we are calling for symptoms reported by your children during the school day. We are obligated to contact you when they are not feeling well and especially when reported symptoms align with the potential COVID-19 Symptoms list (consistent with Ministry Daily Screening Tool). In that case, we must comply with procedures to send children home, along with their siblings. We understand in some cases, this can be difficult and frustrating. We all continue to be impacted by the day-to-day protocols related to the pandemic. In order to keep our school safe, we must continue to be diligent in this area. Again, we thank you for your support and cooperation. Please see below for the most recent course of action if your child is sent home with potential COVID-19 symptoms: Halton Public Health Flowchart -return-to-school-and-child-care

Please CLICK HERE for our COVID-19 Protocols, steps to follow if someone in your home is sick, self-isolation requirements, and links to the Ministry Daily Screening Tool.
Uniform Dress Code Reminders:
We continue to notice students on a daily basis wearing bottoms, which do not meet our uniform dress code. We kindly remind all parents that students must be in full uniform (Tops with our school embroidered logo and navy pants/bottoms, absent of logos or markings of any kind). As of February 1st, a new board policy has come into effect and you may purchase navy bottoms (no logos) from any vendor/store.
As we informed you weeks ago, McCarthy Uniforms has returned as our board vendor for the purchase of the tops (you may also bottoms there as well). Please click here to read more about registering, to view items for our school, and for information about the Board’s updated uniform policy.
Should you have any concerns about purchasing uniforms or require financial support, please contact Mrs. Durand or Mr. Chininea any time. Thank you in advance for cooperation.
