  • COVID-19 Update:

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As a follow up to the email I sent you on March 4, 2020, I am writing to share an update from the Halton Region Health Department regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Please read the following letter to parents from the Medical Officer of Health for Halton Region, which includes travel recommendations in anticipation of March Break, and advises all travellers to monitor their health for 14 days after returning to Canada.

Dr. Meghani notes in her letter that although there is one (1) known case of COVID-19 in Halton, the risk to our community remains low. The letter reiterates how members of our community can continue to do their part to prevent the spread of respiratory viruses.

As always, we are in ongoing communication with the Halton Region Health Department, who are working closely with the Ministry of Health, Public Health Ontario and local health care providers to monitor this situation and take actions, as appropriate.

If you have any questions regarding COVID-19, please contact Halton Region Public Health at: 905-825-6000.

The health and well-being of our students and staff remains our highest priority. We are posting updates on our website at: bit.ly/COVID-19Updates-HCDSB and will continue to email parents directly as new information becomes available.

Take care,  Pat Daly
Director of Education

FIRST COMMUNIONS:
A number of families have contacted the parish asking about the status of First Communion celebrations this spring.   If you have made any plans to celebrate (eg. restaurant reservations, invitations to family from out of town), it would be prudent at this point to cancel those plans, and assume that 1st Communions will have to be rescheduled.  Although we would like to proceed as planned, the situation is out of our hands as we cooperate in the battle against the spread of COVID-19, and adhere to the mandatory government restrictions placed on public gatherings.

Since the current circumstances are changing so quickly, we have not yet made a decision on the scheduling of First Communions.  There is just too much uncertainty at the moment to be able to confirm the current schedule or to re-schedule, although I can say with a high degree of confidence that at least the April dates will need to be rescheduled.  As soon as it becomes clear as to when Ontario Public Health will again allow public gatherings, we will make a decision on the schedule for First Communions.   Again, at this point I ask you to just assume that the dates of the celebrations will have to be rescheduled.

Be assured of my continued prayers for all of you as we continue to place our trust in God’s hands during this difficult time…
