St Brigid Weekly Update – Week of December 16, 2019
As the third week in Advent unfolds and we light the pink candle of our Advent Wreath, we are reminded by Pope Francis that, “Joy, prayer and gratitude are three ways that prepare us to experience Christmas in an authentic way.” Our St. Brigid School Community, Grades 1 through 8, celebrated our school Advent Mass at Holy Cross Church on Tuesday. Thank you to Father Dave for celebrating Mass with us and to our choir who did a fantastic job leading us in song!
We were also very fortunate to celebrate the ‘Coming of the Cross’ on Thursday to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the formation of the Halton Catholic District School Board. We received the cross on Thursday, where all students were able to ‘greet’ the arrival of the cross at St. Brigid School. We celebrated in prayer on Friday to bless the cross. Staff and students will participate in activities over the next week to celebrate this momentous event.
Thank you to all our families who joined us for our CSC’s 10th Annual Gingerbread Family Night! Special thanks to our CSC members, parent volunteers and staff who assisted with organization! As well, thanks to our St. Brigid Band for kicking off the evening and the Gingerbread Man for returning once again this year!
Our Games and Building Clubs are up and running for our primary grades from Monday-Wednesday in our library during the lunch hour.
Thank you for your generous support of our Angel Tree Initiative in support of The Halton Women’s Place, Miracle on Main Toy Drive and Holy Cross H.E.L.P.S! Many angels adorn the Christmas Tree in our front foyer! We continue to accept online donations for Holy Cross H.E.L.P.S and gift card donations for Halton Women’s Place until December 20, 2019.
The Halton Health Department is sharing information regarding rabies prevention.
On Friday, December 20, 2019 students will be dismissed at 2:00 pm. If your child will be leaving prior to 2:00 pm, please ensure that you make arrangements ahead of time by including a note for the classroom teacher in your child’s agenda. We appreciate your support! Students will return to school Monday, January 6, 2020. Wishing you and your families a wonderful, blessed and relaxing Christmas season!
