St Brigid Weekly Update – Week of November 25, 2019
Thank you for your participation in student-led conferences this week. We know that when students, parents and educators work together, student achievement and well-being is enhanced! We look forward to continued communication and collaboration throughout the school year. Thanks to all our parents and grandparents who supported our Book Fair! We appreciate your support!
This week, we had our senior students leading us daily in the morning announcements to raise awareness regarding safe school, equity, inclusion and gospel values. We also raised awareness about Bullying Prevention and Intervention through our classroom read alouds, conversations and tasks, along with a school-wide pledge. We work each day on supporting one another and standing up to bullying through embedded Focus on Faith themes in each of our classrooms, daily safe school messaging, classroom based programs run by our CYC and Halton Regional Police liaison officer and interaction and discussions with all adults in the building. All of this supports the work of Catholic education and the belief that every child can achieve, believe and belong in our school.
This week, our St. Brigid Bears Volleyball Teams participated in the System Finals. Our Senior Girls Team has advanced to the HCDSB System Gold Medal Game on Wednesday, November 27th at 4:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas in Oakville. Our Senior Boys Team has also advanced to the HCDSB System Bronze Medal Game on Wednesday, November 27th at 5:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas. Good Luck! GO BEARS!
Our next Catholic School Council Meeting takes place on Wednesday, November 27th in our library. Our annual Advent Mass will take place on December 3rd at Holy Cross Church at 7 p.m. A family craft opportunity hosted by our C.S.C will take place in the church hall prior to mass. More details will follow with RSVP. Our C.S.C. will be hosting Family Gingerbread Night. This will take place on December 12th from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in our school gym.
Our goal at recesses at St. Brigid School is to promote play and physical activity! We have two separate recesses in the morning, at lunch and in the afternoon with grades 1 to 4 sharing recess and grades 5 through 8 sharing our second recess breaks. During winter months, depending on proper field conditions, students are permitted to play in the snow on the fields if they are wearing their winter clothing – jackets, snow pants, boots and mittens/gloves.
In regards to Pediculosis (head lice) the following information shares our “no nit” policy, strategies for checking for head lice and policy/procedures surrounding what to do if your child is infected with head lice.
