School Update – Week of November 18, 2019

St Brigid Weekly Update – Week of November 18, 2019

Dear Parents,

On Monday we gathered for our Remembrance Day Assembly led by the Grade 5 classes.

Thank you so much for your overwhelming contributions to our Dr. Simone’s Candy Drive. Together we collected 509lbs of candy for children in need.  If there is anyone who would be able to drop this candy to the warehouse in Mississauga please let the school know.  It is only open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – noon.

We are happy to welcome our CTK Sports Leadership Students to our school. These students are leading games on our playground at lunch recess for our students in grades 1 through 8!

Coding Club – On Wednesdays, from November 20th, Intermediate students will have the opportunity to take part in Coding Club during the school lunch hour. Students will have the opportunity to learn about block chain and python coding using in-school technology. Coding Club will be participating in The Hour of Code during Computer Science Education Week (December 9-15). More than 100 million students worldwide have already tried an Hour of Code. Our involvement in the Hour of Code is making a statement that St. Brigid’s is ready to explore these foundational 21st-century skills. We are looking to open up Coding Club to our junior division students in the new year.

St. Brigid is hosting our annual Book Fair from Tuesday, November 19th until Thursday, November 21st.

Parent-Teacher Interviews will take place on the evening of November 21st and on the P.A. Day scheduled for November 22nd. The online system allows parents to schedule interviews directly with teachers.  Parents received a message with the link https://sbces.parentinterview.com and a school code via School Messenger.  Please check your email for the code. For security purposes, codes are not posted on public websites. You will be able to schedule interviews until November 20th at 3:00 p.m.  Please make note of your confirmation number when you book your interviews.

Looking ahead, our Gingerbread Night this year will be held on December 12th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in our St. Brigid gym.   All orders must be made through School Cash Online.  The deadline for orders is November 28th.
