St. Brigid Weekly Update – Week of June 10, 2019
It’s been another busy week! On Monday Father David Reilander from Catholic Missions in Canada presented to our school community and shared how the work of Catholic Missions in Canada supports communities in northern Ontario. As a school community, we look forward to partnering with a northern community to learn together during the 2019 – 2020 school year. Our St. Brigid Bears participated in the North Halton Track & Field Meet on Wednesday at Bishop Reding. Despite the wet weather, our 75 athletes did an excellent job representing our school with many students achieving personal bests and qualifying for the system finals! The HCDSB System Track and Field Meet will take place on Monday at Notre Dame in Burlington. GO BEARS! St. Brigid definitely has some very talented students! Our St. Brigid Talent Show took place this week and was enjoyed by all in our school community! Our grade 8 students spent Tuesday in Toronto. The Graffiti Tour was a highlight of their trip and students enjoyed watching the Blue Jays defeat the Yankees.
The Gospel Value for the month of June is “Fairness”. God wants us to treat each other as we would like to be treated. God made us to live together as a family in creation, to share and to help each other. Being Christian is all about living together in community – ideally, one big happy family. Everyone needs a FAIR chance to succeed – to overcome his or her disadvantages and disabilities. A fair team player makes sure the rules of the game give everyone an even chance to participate. Not everyone has to win. Everyone deserves a chance to be in the game.
On Tuesday, June 11, 2019 we will celebrate our year end school Mass at Holy Cross Church at 10:00 a.m. Our mass will be offered for the mothers of Barb Fitzmaurice (Roberta Florence Thomas) and Cathy Scott (Veronica Theresa Hart). We will be walking to the church so please ensure students are dressed for the weather. All are welcome to join us!
Friday is a Spirit Day – Crazy Hair Day!
The ABA for All Bonanza facilitated by HCDSB Special Education Services will run in our school on Friday, June 14, 2019. This event will showcase what we do in education to support the use of ABA Methodology, highlighting the collaboration of multiple disciplines (Behaviour Analysts, Itinerants, Child and Youth Counselors, Speech Language Pathologists and Communication Disorder Assistants), and celebrate all the great things already happening in our Board. The ABA Bonanza is an opportunity to learn more about Educational ABA and to help all those who work in education to better understand what educational ABA is, and what is expected in an education context. Parents in the community are welcome to attend the ABA Bonanza to learn about what we do in education to support the use of ABA Methodology and to celebrate the great things already occurring in our school from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
If you are moving out of the St. Brigid School community, please let the office know as soon as possible. This supports class organization for next year. Finally, if you are interested in applying for the position of Lunch Time Supervisor, please contact our office to receive an application package.
