WELCOME Mrs. Warmels
During this third week of Advent, it gives us great JOY that Mrs. Warmels has joined our St. Benedict family as our new Vice Principal. As a retired principal, we are excited to learn and grow with her expertise and knowledge. We look forward to getting to know her and all the new experiences we will have together in the New Year. We send her lots of prayers and blessings, as she starts her new journey with us this week.
Please visit St. Benedict Parish website regularly for updates.
Voluntary Rapid Antigen Test Kits for In-Person Learners
During the week of Monday, December 13th to Friday, December 17th our school will be distributing Rapid Antigen Screening Kits for voluntary use over the Christmas holiday.
The rapid antigen screening kits have been provided by the Government of Ontario for every student who attends in-person learning at a publicly funded school. These kits may be used by any student, regardless of their vaccination status, however, should only be used when a child is asymptomatic (does not have any symptoms of COVID-19) and has not had any exposure to a confirmed case of COVID-19.
Please note that participation in this student rapid antigen screening is voluntary and is not a required action for return to school after the Christmas break.
We are grateful for the ongoing support of students, families and staff as we work closely with the Ministry of Education and Halton Public Health to help keep our school community safe and healthy for all.
On Friday December 17th, our school day will end 90 minutes early. Please see the following dismissal schedule for our last day of school, before Christmas Holidays:
- Kindergarten & Grade 1-3 Students will start dismissal @ 2:05pm
- Junior & Intermediate Students will be dismissed @ 2:20pm (at the bell)
Buses will be waiting at 2:20pm. Please note the buses will be arriving 90 minutes early (at the end of the day).
COVID-19 Safety Measures
For the safety and well-being of all students and staff, parents and guardians must perform daily screening of their child(ren) for COVID-19 symptoms BEFORE leaving for school using the COVID-19 Self-Assessment.
- Check your child’s temperature to ensure they do not have a fever (temperature greater than 37.8C)
- Monitor for signs and symptoms (including atypical symptoms) of COVID-19
- Individuals experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 as identified in the screening tool, must not attend school and should follow the guidance provided in the screening tool
The Government of Ontario daily self-screening tool can be accessed here: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/
