This school year will be different in many respects, but we will all work together to ensure the health and well-being of our students, families and staff.

Public Health has advised that students do NOT need to wear masks during outdoor recess and outdoor physical education instruction/DPA. During outdoor times, classes will maintain social distance (2meters), playing in cohorted class zones. Please see our HCDSB Return to School Plan (mask section), for more information on MASKS at school.

During high transition times (arrival & dismissal), we are asking all staff, students and families to kindly wear a mask on school property, as it is difficult to safely maintain distance (2m) during this time. We appreciate your support with this.

To continue to keep all of us safe and healthy, we continue to ask only (1) guardian to come on school property during drop off and pickup. To help maintain social distancing measures we are kindly asking our community to NOT congregate at the playground/kindergarten gates, during these high traffic times. Your support is greatly appreciated and needed.


Parents and guardians must perform daily screening of their child(ren) for COVID-19 symptoms BEFORE arriving at school using the

NEW THIS YEAR – For the first two weeks of the school year, the Ministry of Education has asked us to complete “Confirmations of Screenings” for all students.  This means that we must put in place a mechanism for parents to confirm to their child’s teacher that the daily COVID-19 screening has been completed.  Your child’s teacher has communicated the process with families. If daily confirmation of screening is not completed for this first two week period, parents will be contacted to complete the screening or pick up their child(ren) from school. 

Please note that if a student or staff member does not pass the daily COVID-19 screening, they cannot come to school. They must follow the instructions provided on the daily self screening tool and report their absence to the school and follow Public Health direction. 

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures for St. Benedict School


All Grades 1-6 will line up before school, in their cohort zone (where the play at recess).  Primary at the front of the ZONE, JR near the back (maintaining 2meters between cohorts)

Grades 7 & 8 will come through the front door and go straight to class

Kinder- direct entry to the building, through the Kinder Gates (please no congregating at the gate. Thank you)


Dismissal has been staggered to prevent crowds of children in the hallways and on the yard and to promote physical distancing. Please adhere to the times provided:

Kindergarten: 3:35 pm; Primary: 3:35 pm; Junior: 3:45pm; Intermediate: 3:50 pm

**Students will NOT be dismissed, before the bell, without guardian


We are in the process of finalizing our bus numbers for this year. If your child(ren) are bus eligible but do not take the bus daily (i.e. parent pickup, after-school program) please contact Mrs. Le Conte and complete the Halton Transport electronic Opt-Out form.

Any students who take the AFTERNOON BUS will have a coloured bus tag attached to their backpack. On the back will be their seat number, for the afternoon bus only. The bus driver has a copy of the morning seating plan.

IF your child(ren) has a MEDICAL CONDITION and requires a Medical Plan of Care, special paper work must be filled out and return to the office. If you have not done this, please contact the office and we will send home immediately. Please make sure your child’s teacher is aware of any medical conditions and protocols.

Please ensure that you have sent in an extra EpiPen for your child with anaphylaxis. Our procedures require that all students who are anaphylaxis MUST have two EpiPens at school.  One must be worn by the student and the other EpiPen will be stored in the office in their student file.  Please look at and record the expiry dates so that you can provide a new one should it expire within the school year.

Family Consent Forms

Please complete the online form for each child attending St. Benedict, as soon as possible:

 This is to replace the paper copies that used to be completed during the first week of school.

Lunch Time: All students are to remain in school during the lunch hour unless they are going home. Like last year, this helps in maintaining cohorts. Please ensure that your child has their lunch and water bottle for the day as no drop offs are permitted.
