Weekly Update Apr. 27

As a staff, we continue to virtually meet everyday to pray that all of our families are healthy and safe. During these challenging times, we call on our faith to support our fears, thoughts and steps forward. Together, we will get through this. Together, we can make plans that work for your family, during these challenging times. The most important thing to us is the health and well-being of all of you. Whatever we can do to help, just ask. Either contact your child’s teacher, or a principal/vice-principal, and we will find a way…. together. You are not alone.

Social & Emotional Well-Being

Remember that you are not alone. Please reach out if you think anyone in your family would benefit from professional advice on strategies to get through this challenging time.

Grade 7 Immunization Update

Grade 7 School-based Vaccine Clinics – Cancelled for 2019-2020 School Year

The Halton Region Public Health department has made the decision to CANCEL the third round of Grade 7 school-based vaccine clinics for the 2019-2020 school year, due to the school closures related to COVID-19.

This round would have included the second and final doses for both the Hepatitis B and HPV 9 vaccines, offered to Grade 7 students who received the first doses of these vaccines in the fall of 2019. Halton Region Public Health will reschedule these clinics for the 2020-2021 school year and will let families know once the clinic rescheduled dates are finalized.

Parents and guardians can contact their healthcare providers directly if they wish to have their child receive this vaccine through their family doctor. Please report any vaccines your child receives outside of school by visiting: or by calling 311.

Distance Learning Update

Having Trouble Logging in Multiple Children on D2L?

In households where multiple children need to log into D2L on one device, there are options that will allow two or more students to be logged in to their class portals at the same time. This will help reduce the number of sign-ins needed and make accessing D2L classes easier and faster for students.

For detailed instructions, visit the HCDSB Learn at Home website and access the following page:

Thank you to all of you who made some time to fill out our Feedback Surveys.  From the information we collated, there has been an interest from parents for live virtual teaching opportunities.  There are many challenges that come with Distance Learning, and the lack of live instruction is certainly one of them.  Teachers are welcome to post pre-recorded videos of a lesson if they wish, but they are discouraged from live instruction for a number of reasons.  Primarily, the privacy of both staff and student is a concern.  In addition, we would not want to schedule live instruction because not all of our students are able to log on at the same time, and we would never want them to miss out.  We hope you understand these concerns, and can appreciate that though our staff members are missing your children terribly, they are not going to be doing live instruction during this time of Distance Learning.
