For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just.
We wish to thank you for your continued support as we navigate through the month of September with new protocols and procedures in place. Our first full week was, overall, a success. As the year progresses, there will be changes made at the school-level as we continue to follow directions from Halton Public Health. We ask for your patience and continued support as these are implemented.
Changes in Covid-19 Protocol
Parents no longer need to sign the form that was going home nightly indicating that you have completed the COVID-19 School Screening for every child. However, parents must complete the COVID-19 School Screening every day for each child and must receive a green ‘go to school’ message before sending your child to school.
Virtual Curriculum Night: Thursday, September 23
Curriculum Night this year will once again take place virtually. Staff will review classroom routines and expectations and will provide a virtual tour of the online platform for your child’s class. We ask that you respect the privacy of all students by not discussing any confidential or personal matters with staff during the virtual meeting.
The first session will take place at 6:45 PM, followed by the second session at 7:15 PM. Your child’s homeroom teacher will be sharing a link to a TEAMs invite that will be placed in the announcement section of their D2L page. The link will be present several days before the 23rd, so please ensure you have access to the D2L page and can see the link. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
We ask that you download Microsoft Teams and create an account. This will ensure that you don’t have any issues connecting on Curriculum Night. Click HERE for the direct link to Microsoft TEAMS.
Confirmation Parent Meeting
Grade 7 parents are invited to an information meeting regarding Confirmation this year. It is scheduled for Wednesday, September 29 at 7 pm at Holy Rosary Parish. Some information may be found HERE.
Kiss & Ride
If you are dropping off your child in the morning and wish to walk your child up to the side fence/gate, please park your vehicle in a parking spot. Please do not park in the Kiss and Ride area as this slows/stops the flow of traffic, which causes congestion and a safety risk.
Thank you to those parents who have already sent in the Plan of Care for their child with medical conditions. If you have not yet had an opportunity to do so, please ensure forms are reviewed, signed, and returned to the school as soon as possible, along with any required spare epi-pens and inhalers needed. Please also remind your child to always carry their device on them, if applicable.
Family Information/Consent Forms
This year the Family Information/Consent Form is being collected electronically. Parents are asked to complete the form as soon as possible, which may be accessed HERE. The form should take you no longer than 10 minutes to complete.
Important Notes Before Completing the Form:
- If you have more than one child enrolled in an HCDSB school, please complete a separate form for each child.
- Only one parent/guardian is required to complete a form for each child.
- You will need your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) to submit this form. The OEN can be found on a recent report card.
- The form can be completed using a computer, smart phone, or tablet.
School Council Nominations
The School Council is an advisory body to school administration, and as such, has the opportunity to share their input on a number of Board initiatives and ideas throughout the year. Each year a new school council is created to reflect the new school year and new school community members. We have many new families to our school community and would like to invite interested parents/guardians in serving on this year’s Council. If you are interested in joining the council this year, please review the following HCDSB School Council Policy (I-23) and complete the form below. The form is due by Monday, September 27th, 4:00 PM. We are tentatively scheduling Monday, October 4th as the date for our first council meeting.
Emergency Evacuation Drills
Each year, we conduct 6 fire drills, 2 lockdown drills and 2 bomb drills in order to ensure that if in the case of a true emergency, all staff and students are equipped with the skills necessary to evacuate the building or secure in place quickly and according to protocol. This upcoming week we will begin to carry out these emergency drills in a staggered manner with all staff and students.
