Weekly Update: June 7 – 11

Dear Parents and Guardians:

As you are aware, the provincial government has announced that schools will continue in a remote capacity until the end of the school year. We realize this is difficult for many families and staff members. We are developing year-end routines and will post as they are finalized. Please click on the link to access the board’s available Mental health resources.

As we continue in National Indigenous History Month, we pray for the souls of the 215 young people who were discovered on the site of a former residential school in Kamloops. We recognize Every Child Matters and pray for Truth, Reconciliation and healing for Indigenous peoples affected by this tragedy and other events of cultural genocide in Canada’s history.

On this Friday, June 11th, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. The image below provides some information in child-friendly language.

As a Catholic Community, we are called by Jesus to care for others. At the Halton Catholic Children’s Foundation, they strive to do this by providing financial assistance to HCDSB students and their families in need – creating Hope, Dignity and Equity so that students can access learning and education without financial barriers to success.

Students at St. Anthony of Padua have benefitted from HCCF’s financial support in the past. Please consider supporting the HCCF so that they can continue to say “Yes” to helping HCDSB students and families with basic necessities (such as food and clothing, school supplies, shoes, eyeglasses, personal hygiene items, and learning technology).

You are invited to support the 10th Annual HCCF Charity Golf Classic on July 20th – Piper’s Heath Golf Club. Golfers, sponsors and prizes are needed.

Not a golfer? Please pass this information along to someone who is, or consider making a personal / corporate donation.
