Dear Parents and Guardians:
June 13th is the Feast Day of our patron saint, Anthony of Padua. Anthony, son of a nobleman and teacher of friars, is known as the patron saint of the illiterate and the poor, the finder of lost things, and the saint of small requests. The image of Anthony holding the divine infant is a symbol and model for each of us. The image inspires us to go through life clinging to the wonderful mystery of the humble, self-emptying Christ, who accompanies us as a servant of our humanity and of the world’s healing.
Pride Awareness Day: June 14
On Monday, June 14th, we will hold Pride Awareness Day– a day to reaffirm our commitment to honour the dignity and worth of each member of our community by nurturing safe, welcoming and inclusive schools.
As Catholics, we believe that we are all made in the image and likeness of a God who created us and loves us unconditionally – just as we are. We are called to know, love and celebrate one another, just as God knows, loves and celebrates each one of us because we are “wonderfully made.” We honour the inherent dignity in each other by treating one another with sensitivity, compassion and respect.
Throughout the month of June, all HCDSB schools are raising awareness around Pride Month. We begin the third week of June with a system-wide Pride Awareness Day – an opportunity to pause and reflect on what we have learned about Pride and what we can do individually and together to create welcoming and inclusive schools where all students feel a true sense of belonging.
End of Year Routines
The board has announced that Monday June 28 and Tuesday June 29 will be asynchronous learning days to facilitate the return of technology and pick-up of belongings. Currently, we are finalizing expectations around pickup of student items at the school, including epi-pens and inhalers as well as the drop off of school items. We will send out an announcement once these routines are finalized.
Individuals who are 12 years of age and older who live, work or go to school in Halton Region who have not yet received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine are encouraged to do so. Book your appointment now(external link). All appointments are dependent on vaccine supply.
