Dear Parents and Guardians:
Happy Father’s Day:
We would like to extend our well-wishes to all fathers in the St. Anthony of Padua school community. Enjoy your special day!!
We wish to thank you for your patience and support as we worked through the last third of our school year. These uncertain times have been stressful for all. We extend our well-wishes that you and your families have a safe and restful summer together.
We would like to thank our staff for their dedication to our students throughout the year- from coaching and running extra-curricular activities to adapting to a new way of teaching and learning during distance learning.
Thank you to our St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School Council for your on-going advocacy and dedication to our school community.
This year, in light of the school closures due to COVID-19, student report cards will be delivered electronically. The report cards will be delivered directly to parents and guardians by email on Wednesday, June 24, 2020.
Parents and guardians will need their child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) in order to access the report card. Your child’s OEN number can be found on a previous report card.
The Ministry has waived the expectation for both a teacher and parental signature for this reporting period. The School Principal’s electronic signature will appear on all student report cards.
As with all reporting periods, parents and guardians may contact their child’s teacher to arrange a time to discuss the report card.
You are also welcome to contact our school administration with any questions or should you require further clarification.
Curbside Pick up of Student Belongings:
When you come to the school to pick up your child(ren)’s belongings, please ensure you return any text-books and technology at the same time. To ease the process, please make note of your chosen time and location of the exchange. The East Kiss-n- Ride is on the left side if you are facing the school and the West Kiss-n-Ride is on the right. If you were unable to book a time, please contact the school.
Congratulations Grade 8’s:
We would like to congratulate and send our blessings to all of our grade 8 students for reaching this milestone in their lives! Students came to the school on Thursday, June 18th for a ‘curbside’ Graduation Ceremony. Thank you to our teachers for preparing for the day as well as to members of our St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School Council who acted as cheerleaders for our graduates on a very hot and sunny day! A video of the virtual Graduation Ceremony will be sent out to Grade 8 parents on Monday.
End of Year Well-Wishes
We have had a number of families inquire as to where/when end of year gifts for teachers can be dropped off. While not an expectation, if you were intending to provide a token of recognition to your child’s teacher, may we suggest making a donation on their behalf or sending an electronic gift-card or greeting to their e-mail. Unfortunately, due to procedures around Covid19, we will not be able to collect gifts at the school or arrange times for in-person visits with staff.
Updates for the 2020-2021 School Year:
On Friday, June 19, 2020, the Ministry of Education released its plan to guide the return to school for the 2020-2021 school year.
Click here to read the letter to parents from the Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce. For additional information about the Ministry’s plan, click here.
For the past several weeks, the school board has been preparing for a number of potential scenarios that are outlined in the guide, and in the Minister’s letter. We will be sharing updates with parents and guardians throughout the summer, as they become available.
Courtesy Seats on School Buses for the 2020-2021 School Year:
Families with children who take the bus to school are advised that the application process for receiving courtesy seats on school buses will be delayed for the 2020-21 school year. Due to physical distancing measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it may not be possible to grant courtesy seats or the process may be delayed for next school year.
However, parents and guardians can continue to submit a Courtesy Seat Application, and will be notified via email once a decision on this process has been made.
Please note that there is no guarantee that a courtesy seat will be offered if you submit an application, or if your child had a courtesy seat in the past. Visit the Halton Student Transportation Services website for more information: www.haltonbus.ca
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
