Weekly Update: June 15 – 19

Dear Parents and Guardians:

As we enter into the second last week of school, we wish to extend our thoughts and prayers to your families. We are saddened that the last third of our year has been completed at a distance and we miss seeing all of your children face-to-face. Thank you for your patience and support during this uncertain time. Please encourage your children to continue to participate in their distance-learning platforms until the end of the school year.

We are uncertain what September will look like, and will keep you posted as we receive information from the Ministry of Education and the school board. Continue to reach out if you have concerns or require assistance.

End of Year Announcements

Pick up and return of Belongings:

By now you should have received notification of the procedures for obtaining student belongings, including classroom and locker items, epi-pens/inhalers and items left at the YMCA through the duration of the school closure, as well as the opportunity to drop off borrowed items from the school such as textbooks and technology. Families will schedule a time to pick up belongings of all children in the family at one time. Families who have children only in grade 8, need not schedule an appointment as those student belongings will be distributed during Graduation pickup.

The scheduling website closes Friday, June 19th, at 4:00 PM.

Here is the information you will need to schedule an appointment

1. Go to the scheduling webpage at

2. Enter the Access Code (printed below) and click “Sign In” (Please make a note of your Confirmation #)

3. Fill in your contact information and click “Continue to Make Appointments”

4. Click on one of the pick-up locations

5. Click on “Available” for a time at which you wish to attend the school

6. Click on “My Schedule” (top left of the page)

7. Print out, email or copy down your appointment time

The Access Code for this is: tony2020

Prior to your scheduled drop off or pick up time frame, you are required to read the full list of instructions outlined in the: HCDSB Elementary School Curbside Access for Student Belongings Protocol for Parents/Guardians.

The following safety precautions must also be practiced by all individuals visiting our school site to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19 and as always, please continue to follow the advice and recommendations of our Public Health professionals.

Report Cards:

Report cards will be sent electronically this year to the e-mail that you have registered for your child on Trillium and through which you receive school emails. If you, or someone you know, has not been receiving emails, please contact the school to ensure we have your proper information.

End of Year Gifts:

We have had a number of families inquire as to where/when end of year gifts for teachers can be dropped off. While not an expectation, if you were intending to provide a token of recognition to your child’s teacher, may we suggest making a donation on their behalf or sending an electronic gift-card or greeting to their e-mail. Unfortunately, due to procedures around Covid19, we will not be able to collect gifts at the school or arrange times for in-person visits with staff.

Courtesy Seats on School Buses for the 2020-2021 School Year:

Families with children who take the bus to school are advised that the application process for receiving courtesy seats on school buses will be delayed for the 2020-21 school year. Due to physical distancing measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it may not be possible to grant courtesy seats or the process may be delayed for next school year.

However, parents and guardians can continue to submit a Courtesy Seat Application, and will be notified via email once a decision on this process has been made.

Please note that there is no guarantee that a courtesy seat will be offered if you submit an application, or if your child had a courtesy seat in the past. Visit the Halton Student Transportation Services website for more information:

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

Grade Eight Graduation:

We would like to send our Congratulations and well-wishes to our grade eight graduates and would like to recognize Kalen Tan as this year’s valedictorian! Kalen’s address will be included with the graduation video that will be send to families on the 25th. We are so proud of all our grade eights and wish that we could celebrate this momentous time in their lives as a whole school community. Teachers should have reached out to parents with their child’s scheduled pick-up time. Please contact the teacher or administration if you have any questions.

Have a safe and happy week!
