” Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things!” (1 Cor.)

Dear Parents and Guardians

This week we begin Catholic Education Week. This year’s Catholic Education Week theme is, “Igniting Hope. The theme for CEW 2020 was inspired by three sources:

  • The recent Papal Exhortation, Christus Vivit, by Pope Francis following the 2018 Synod of Bishops on Young People, the Faith and Vocational Discernment
  • The recent Ontario Bishops’ pastoral letter, Renewing the Promise (2018)
  • The Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations by the Institute for Catholic Education (2011)

There are five sub-themes for each day of Catholic Education Week.

Day 1: Our Hope in ChristOn him, we have set our hope. ~2 Corinthians 1:10

Day 2: The Hope Within UsThe God of hope, fill you with all joy. ~Roman 15:13

Day 3: The Hope Among UsNow faith, hope, and love abide. ~1 Corinthians 13:13

Day 4: Hope for the World – This is what the Lord asks of you; only this, to act justly, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with your God. ~Micah 6:8

Day 5: A Future Full of HopeFaith has to do with things that are not seen, and hope with things that are not at hand. ~St. Thomas Aquinas   will be having a focus on these themes during their lessons this week. The HCDSB and the school will also be sharing through social media. Please click on the link to Bishop Crosby’s message in regard to this year’s theme.
