Congratulations to our Grade Two students who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation, at Holy Rosary Church, for the first time on Saturday! We are so proud of you! Thank you to the staff and priests of Holy Rosary parish and our Grade Two teachers, Miss Baus, Mr. Mahaney, Ms. Marzilli, Ms. Esposto, Ms. Denomme, and Ms. Sajko for your dedication to our students.
Congratulations to the SAOP Hockey Team for winning the Holy Trinity tournament on Thursday!! Thank you to our coaches, Mr. Zielke, Mr. Race and Ms. MacLennan for providing this opportunity for our students.
We would like to share with you the results of our Valentine’s Day Fundraiser. Thank you for your generous support in raising $17 340.00 for SAOP School!! Congratulations to Ms. Mahon’s class who raised the most funds per class and earned a pizza party (date to be determined)!! We would also like to reveal the top 5 prize winners: congratulations to J.F who won a gift certificate to Great Wolf Lodge, V.A. who won the Leafs tickets, D.D. who won the American Girl Doll, C.Z. who won the Lego set and J.M. who won the Security System. Tickets were handed out to students and names were drawn for all the prizes. We look forward to working with the Catholic School Council in allocating these funds.
This week we enter into the solemn period of Lent. In preparation for Lent, we are having the following events this week:
In anticipation of the teacher job action on Tuesday, we will be commemorating Shrove Tuesday on Monday. pancakes and syrup will be provided by Sunset Grill. Guaranteed nut-free pancakes will be provided by the Lunch Box for students with allergies. To limit our effect on the environment, students are asked to bring a reusable fork from home. Students are also invited to donate a loonie or toonie to offset the cost of the event.
We will be having a liturgy and distribution of ashes on Wednesday, February 26th.

Parents are welcome to attend these liturgies. Please sign in at the table outside of the office prior to heading to the gym.
Lenten Initiative: Maryan’s Backpack, Bundle of Love Program
During the Lenten season, St. Anthony of Padua School will be supporting Christian refugees in the Middle East through the Maryan the Divine Mercy Foundation. Families will be given the opportunity to purchase and fill a backpack with new toys, school supplies, clothes, non-liquid hygiene items, creative crafts, and personalized letters of hope and prayer. Further Information will be sent home to families in the coming days.
Pink Shirt Civvies Day: Wednesday, February 26th.
Wednesday will be a full civvies day. Students are encouraged to wear a pink shirt or sweater to school on Wednesday in support of acceptance and inclusion of all. Classes will be discussing the effects of bullying and the call of Jesus to treat others the way we wish to be treated.

MESSAGE FROM ORAL HEALTH Dental Screening Information
A registered dental hygienist from the Halton Region Health Department will be visiting your child’s school to conduct dental screening for grade JK, SK and 2. The dental hygienist will wear latex-free gloves and take a quick, non-invasive, look in your child’s mouth using a sterilized dental mirror. A note will be sent home the day of the screening with the results. If your child needs urgent dental treatment, important information will also be mailed to your home. If you wish for your child to be screened who is not enrolled in one of the mentioned grades please call 311 or email email@example.com to request a screening with the Oral Health program. If your child needs dental care and you cannot afford it, please call 311 for information on the Healthy Smiles Ontario program. You do not have to wait for the school visit to request assistance.
