Weekly Update: February 17 – 21

Dear Parents and Guardians:

We hope you have an enjoyable Family Day!

We had a number of wonderful events occur at the school this past week! On Wednesday, our grade threes presented an inspiring assembly for Black History Month. Ms. Prominska’s class took part in the HCDSB Pilgrimage of the Cross in celebration of the Board’s 50th Anniversary. The cross will remain at St. Anthony until February 19th when it will make its way to Guardian Angels. Classes will have the opportunity to visit the cross.

On Thursday classes had a great time at our Valentine’s Day Dance-a-thon!! Members from RBC attended and donated a cheque for $1000.00 to our school. Thank you very much!!

On Tuesday, the Catholic School Council will tally funds that came in and award the grand prizes. These prizes are a $500 Great Wolf Lodge gift certificate, Maple Leafs hockey tickets, an American Girl Doll and $150.00 Lego set.

Tickets will be given to students (1 ticket per every $5.00 paid) and they will be given an opportunity to view the prizes and choose which prize they hope to win. These prizes include: $20 Yogurty’s Gift Card, $25 Indigo Gift Card, $50 indigo gift card, $50 indigo gift card, $100 Toys R Us gift card, Keurig Coffee maker, Nom Num Nail Polish Maker Kit, Slime Kit, Barbie Bundle, Board Game Bundle, x2 Day Passes for Aspire Climbing, 2 Hours of Bowling including shoe rental at Champs, Prom Hair and Makeup Gift Certificate, Fire 7 Tablet, Toronto Marlies (4 platinum tickets gift card and swag), $75 EB games gift card, Stranger Things Monopoly Board Game, Bulldog Tickets: Saturday, March 14th  (4 tickets). You may wish to discuss with your child(ren) which prizes they wish to vie for.

Pita Pit will be taking orders till February 24th for the period between March 11 and April 29th. Please place orders online and return order forms to class teachers. Pita Order form Due February 24

Term 2 Milk and Pizza orders begin this week. If you have not placed orders for term 2, please ensure your child(ren) has an alternative.

Report cards go home on Wednesday, February 19th. Please review the grades with your child and sign and return the form indicating your child’s goals for next term and your receipt of the report. Please address questions to your child’s teacher.

Bus Safety Presentations will take place on Thursday, February 20th.

On Friday, February 21st all teachers unions will be holding a province-wide walk out. Schools will be closed to students. If your children attend the YMCA, please contact them re. attending on this day. For on-going information about the labour negotiations, please refer to:

MESSAGE FROM ORAL HEALTH   Dental Screening Information

A registered dental hygienist from the Halton Region Health Department will be visiting your child’s school to conduct dental screening for grade JK, SK and 2. The dental hygienist will wear latex-free gloves and take a quick, non-invasive, look in your child’s mouth using a sterilized dental mirror. A note will be sent home the day of the screening with the results. If your child needs urgent dental treatment, important information will also be mailed to your home. If you wish for your child to be screened who is not enrolled in one of the mentioned grades please call 311 or email to request a screening with the Oral Health program. If your child needs dental care and you cannot afford it, please call 311 for information on the Healthy Smiles Ontario program. You do not have to wait for the school visit to request assistance.
