Dear Parents and Guardians:
We hope you all enjoyed a blessed and restful break with your families. As we prepare to return to school, we would like to provide you with a few reminders from our September newsletter.
Morning Routines and Supervision:
Supervision begins at 9:00 a.m. For the safety of your children, we request that your children NOT be on school property until it is supervised at 9:00 a.m. For safety, please see that your children leave home with ample time to ensure that they are in the back schoolyard when the bell rings at 9:15 a.m. Encourage your children to use appropriate crosswalks and walkways. Establish routines at home that will assist your children to arrive on time. The earlier your children arrive, the safer will be their entry since the volume of vehicular traffic increases significantly just prior to the entry bell. If your child(ren) are being driven to school, we encourage all families to park their car at a designated spot on either side of the school or use the Kiss N’ Ride areas. We ask that you please keep the Kiss N’ Ride areas moving, be patient in our parking lots and be respectful of staff who are attending these areas. The safety of our children is of the utmost importance. A reminder that the loop at the front of the school is for school busses only. Please refrain from using this area before and after school. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Visitors to the School:
Please remember that to other children you are a stranger. When you come to the school, please report to the office, sign in, and get a visitor’s tag. Prior to leaving, sign out and return your visitor’s tag. Help us to keep interruptions to your child’s and other student’s programs to a minimum by coordinating lunches and by arranging visiting friends, and new babysitting arrangements prior to school entry, where possible. As well, parents are asked to bid your children farewell off school property. Only students and staff are to be in the schoolyard. Again, this is to ensure the safety of your children and your attention to this is most appreciated.
Safe Arrival Procedure:
Please ensure you enter your child’s absence in School Messenger. When we do not receive your call, we are concerned about your child. We call home, your workplace or an emergency contact number. Please let the office know if your telephone numbers change. If we cannot determine an unexplained absence, we must call the police department and report the unaccounted absence. If buses are cancelled, only bus students are excused from school. All other absences must be reported.
Cell phones and personal devices:
It is the expectation that cell phones and personal devices are only used on school property under the direction and supervision of the teacher. All devices must be turned off and left in the student’s backpack or held by the teacher during the school day. Devices that are used without permission will be confiscated and held at the office until they can be returned to the student at the end of the day.
