Weekly Update: February 3 – 7

Dear Parents & Guardians:

February is Black History Month. During this month, classes will be learning about influential Canadians of African descent. We will have an assembly on February 12th.

Michael Wade, author of the children’s series, ‘and then it HAPPENED,’ spoke to our grade 3 – 6 students this week. Through humour, he shared an important message to our students that anyone can be a writer and that it takes perseverance to achieve your dreams.

Congratulations to the Sr. Girl’s Basketball team for winning the Holy Trinity tournament! Both the boys and girls represented the school well through their perseverance and sportsmanship. Thanks to our coaches – Mr. Zielke, Mr. Mahaney, Mr. Stelter and Ms. Marzilli for providing this opportunity for our students.

This past Thursday, SAOP hosted 8 schools for a Junior Girls Volleyball tournament. The girls from grades 4-6 had great fun and were able to develop their skills. Thank you to Mr. De Rosa, Ms. Morgado, Ms. Pawlowski, Mr. Gronau and our student helpers for making the tournament a success!

Thank you to students from Mr. Duguid’s grade three class who raised $244.00 to support Halton Women’s Shelter. We are proud of you!!

Please remind students that Beyblades will not be allowed during the school day. Children are asked to keep these at home. Thank you for your support.

As per the Board’s notification, on Tuesday, February 4th, unless a settlement in negotiations, OECTA will be holding a one-day strike. Schools will be closed to students. Please contact the YMCA of how this affects services. For on-going job action updates, please refer to Labour Negotiation Update

Term 2 orders for milk (Feb 18 – June 20) and pizza (Feb 20 – June 19) must be placed on school cash online by February 7th.

ISW will be holding a uniform sale at the Milton store from February 1 – 8. The online discount code is febsale.

Valentine’s Dance-a-thon: Feb 13th. Our goal is for each child to raise $20.00 in pledges.

  • For every $5.00 collected, students will receive one raffle ticket for a prize.
  • The class that raises the most money will win a pizza party for their class.

Pledges can be made on School Cash Online beginning next week, where tax receipts can be generated for amounts of $25 or more.  If you choose to make a donation through the school website, please ensure your son/daughter’s name and teacher’s name is included in the “Message to School Board” section. Cash and cheques are also accepted and can be returned to the school.
