Weekly Update: November 18 – November 22

Dear Parents and Guardians:

This year in Canada marks the 17th anniversary of National Bullying Awareness Week, running from November 17th to November 23rd. Bullying is defined as a form of repeated, persistent and aggressive behaviour directed at an individual or individuals that is intended to cause (or should be known to cause) fear and distress and/or harm to another person’s body, feelings, self-esteem or reputation. Bullying occurs in a context where there is a real or perceived power imbalance. Bullying is a relationship problem.  Our lifelong goal is to help ensure that we all have healthy, safe, respectful, and caring relationships with the people in our lives.

Our school will be focusing on ways to continue building positive relationships by highlighting the things that we are already doing to promote healthy relationships within our school.  Examples of this would be school clubs, teaching social skills and building on classroom communityWe will have daily announcements that focus on bullying awareness and prevention and classes will participate in activities during Religion and Health lessons.
