Weekly Update April 29-May 3

In Sunday’s Gospel, Thomas needs to see Jesus in person to believe He has Risen. There is an ancient saying in the Eastern Church: If you want to know if Jesus is really Risen, look around you at the faces at the Easter vigil.Thomas could not read the presence of the Risen One on the faces of his friends…What would he read on our faces? What do we read on one another’s faces? This question has everything to do with the ultimate success of the new evangelization. We need to look like a credible community, a community that has seen the Lord and been transformed.  Kathleen Hughes rscj

Thank you:

The St. Anthony of Padua Lenten almsgiving initiative was a great success. Thank you to everyone who donated Tim Hortons Roll Up the Rim prizes. 400 prizes were given to the local Halton Women’s Shelter. Please continue to pray for the vulnerable in our community.

Reminders:

Morning Routine: Please remind children who ride bicycles to school to please lock them on the bike racks on both sides of the school rather than on the fences.

Bike Drive: If your son or daughter has outgrown their bike and you’re not sure what to do with the old bike you can donate it to a child in need. We will be collecting bikes on May 1st and 2nd. The bikes will be donated to New Hope Community Bikes which services the GTHA. Even if the bike is broken, they can repair it and make a child smile ! Bikes can be dropped off at the front of the school.

Catholic Education Week: Catholic Education week will take place from May 6 to May 10 this year. The theme this year is Living as Joyful Disciples.

Our school community will be celebrating in many different ways throughout the week and we invite you to participate in any of the activities we have planned as your personal time and work schedule may permit. Throughout the week Mrs. Morris, our CYC will display in the front foyer a variety of programs being offered at our school such as Kelso’s Choice, Roots of Empathy, Kids Have Stress Too, MindUP , Alternative Lunch Recess Program (Games Centre) and Growth Mindset as well as a display promoting Mental Health Week.
