School Update: Dec. 16, 2021

Thursday, December 16, 2021

Thank you all for your outstanding generosity for our Angel Tree and our Advent Food Drive. The Good Shepherd and Burlington Food Bank arrived yesterday afternoon for our last pick up and they were OVERWHELMED by the number of items we had collected – we had almost 4000 food items in total alone! We are so fortunate to have such an amazing community that supported these initiatives, led by our intermediate students. Thank you for putting your Catholic Social Teachings in action!

To celebrate the donations, two classes have been awarded a pizza party – students in Mrs. Stribbell’s Grade 5 class won the “raffle” and Mrs. MaGarrey’s Grade 5 class brought in the most items. Both classes will receive pizza tomorrow for lunch (Friday) to celebrate their support.

Remember tomorrow (Friday, December 17th) will be an Early Dismissal Day! Our Kindergarten friends will be dismissed at 1:25-1:30pm, followed by our Primary students (Grades 1-3) at 1:35pm, and then our Juniors and Intermediates at 1:40pm. Buses and other transportation services will be arriving at this time as well.

Despite what you may be hearing in the news or from other school Boards, our Board has not heard of any indication that we will be returning to remote learning at this time, so in person school resumes on Monday, January 3rd, 2022. You will need to complete the Log Sheet to confirm daily screening starting on this day for the first two weeks back. If you cannot find your sheet, you will need to confirm directly with your child’s teacher the morning they return. Use the Rapid Antigen Tests if you wish, and come back to us healthy. As of today, we are fully expecting all schools to remain open. We have been extremely lucky with our very low case counts, so please keep it up!

On behalf of the St. Anne Catholic School staff, we wish you all a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year! Please be safe over the holidays and follow all the guidelines from Halton Public Health in order to stay healthy. The Board will communicate any messaging over the Break if necessary. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you back at school on Monday, January 3rd!
