School Update: Dec. 13, 2021

Monday, December 13, 2021

As we continue into our Third Week of Advent, we are reminded of the joy this week brings as we light the pink candle. Let’s remember that feeling as we continue to struggle with the current pandemic, and we look forward in hope to the light ahead.

This is our last week of school before our Christmas break! Please see below for some information and updates:

Our Focus on Faith Liturgy will be on Friday, December 17th in the morning. This month’s theme is Community and the Common Good, our Grade 3 and Grade 5 classroom focus. For more information on this month’s theme, please click here:

We will have an Early Dismissal on Friday, December 17th which will be 90 minutes earlier than our regular dismissal. Our Kindergarten friends will be dismissed at 1:25-1:30pm, followed by our Primary students (Grades 1-3) at 1:35pm, and then our Juniors and Intermediates at 1:40pm. This day will also be a NON-UNIFORM day, where we encourage everyone to dress in Red and Green to get into the holiday spirit!

Our Advent Food Drive will end on WEDNESDAY! The Burlington Food Bank was here again on Friday to do a second pick up because we had almost 2000 items of goods! Please have all donations in by Wednesday morning. And our Angel Tree items need to be at our school by Wednesday, December 15th as well. Thank you for supporting our student led initiatives this year and giving back to our community during this Advent Season.

Unfortunately, we won’t be able to celebrate any Christmas activities within our school due to public health restrictions. Therefore, our teachers have been using their imaginations to create a special something for you within their individual classes/cohorts. Please check in with your child’s teacher for what they are doing to celebrate Christmas this week!

Please stay healthy and follow all current Public Health Guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our community. There have been more cases in external community groups so please follow the directions of Public Health and complete the school screening daily ( for each child before coming to school. If anyone is not feeling well, please stay home. When we return in January, the Government has asked all schools to complete the daily confirmation of school screening once again for the first two weeks back. A log sheet will be sent home by your child’s teacher to complete on a daily basis for two weeks starting on January 3, 2022. As well, if you are planning to travel over the Christmas Break you must follow all Public Health regulations when you return. We thank you for your continued efforts! Please stay healthy and safe.
