GRADE 8 GRADUATION UPDATE

Good morning to our Grade 8 Graduation Families!

On Friday, June 11th our Board, along with the Halton Public Health, released information to all of us about the requirements for the outdoor component to our Graduation celebrations. Schools need to exercise caution for any outdoor component, and must follow the Provincial Guide to End of School Year Celebrations (found here: https://www.ontario.ca/page/covid-19-guide-end-school-year-celebrations-20202021) along with the following guidance from our Board and public Health:

  • Only TWO guests per student may attend
  • We must register and keep a record of all attendees, along with the validation of self-screening for each attendee
  • There is no access to the inside of our building
  • Outdoor celebrations are limited to TEN (10) People
  • Masks MUST BE WORN
  • We must maintain a distance of 2m between individuals not from the same household
  • Grad Gowns cannot be worn during the outdoor gathering, and are to be brought back to be returned on that day
  • Gathering before and after the outdoor celebration is not permitted

With all of these measures in place, we will still move forward with our outdoor “Walk-Thru” celebration on Tuesday, June 22nd. Therefore, we will be sending you a specific time to arrive with 2 students per time interval from each cohort. Each student may only bring a maximum of two people with them.

Please park on the KINDERGARTEN (West side) parking area and proceed to the back of our school at your designated time. A staff member will greet you at the entrance to our yard, check off the names of those attending, and verify your self-screening. You must be wearing a mask to enter (and masks will be given to those who forget). From there you can proceed to the “Grad Pick Up” area where your teacher and a few other staff members will congratulate you. A tent is available for family photos if you wish. Please note that only members within the same household can remove masks for photos.

A scheduled time will be sent to you individually along with a form to complete giving the names of the two guests that will be attending along with your graduate. Please adhere to the exact time. Markers will be available along the sidewalk towards the back of our school for you to wait a 2m distance for your turn. To give you an idea on timing, the following cohorts will receive individual times within these time frames for Tuesday, June 22nd:

Mr. Campanelli’s Grade 8s & VIRTUAL Students: between 10:00am and 11:00am

Mr. Sneyd’s Grade 8s: between 11:15am and 12:30pm

Mr. Walmsley’s Grade 8s: between 1:00pm and 2:30pm

We hope that you take some time this weekend to celebrate with your family and take photos in your Graduation Gown with your personalized Lawn Sign. We will see you virtually on Monday, June 21st at 6:30pm for our Graduation Virtual Ceremony! A link to the Grad Ceremony will be sent this week.
