School Update: Feb. 22

Good morning and happy Monday to all our St. Anne Families!

As we begin our final week of February, here are a few quick reminders and updates:

Please review the latest changes to the Public Health guidelines surrounding school screening. The COVID-19 School Screening Tool has been changed and will now require students and staff with any new or worsening symptoms of COVID-19, even those with only one (1) symptom, to stay home until:

  • They receive a negative COVID-19 test result.; OR
  • They receive an alternative diagnosis by a health care professional; OR
  • It has been 10 days since their symptom onset, and they are feeling better.

The new single-symptom screening criteria in the COVID-19 daily screening tool has now been applied and is in effect. Parents and guardians are reminded to complete theCOVID-19 School Screening Toolfor each child every day before leaving home for school or child care:https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/.

The Ministry of Health has now indicated that all individuals living in the same household are now required to self-isolate when a family member has COVID-19 symptoms, even if the family member only has one (1) symptom.

This means that the following isolation requirements now apply: all members in a household of a symptomatic individual are required to self-isolate until the individual receives a negative COVID-19 test result OR receives an alternative diagnosis by a health care professional.

We do not require verification so please make sure you are following the advice and doing the school screening which will provide you with direction. Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding as we continue to adapt our health and safety protocols to meet Ministry of Education and Public Health requirements so that we can help stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

Wednesday, February 24th is Canada’s annual “Pink Shirt Day!” This is a day to highlight the importance of anti-bullying and promote kindness and respect. Students are encouraged to wear a pink shirt with their uniforms to show their support! Together we can put an end to bullying!

Reminder that Term 1 Report Cards for students in K-8 will be going home, electronically again, on Wednesday, February 24th. You will need your child’s OEN # which can be found on the top of the last report card in order to access these reports electronically.

This Friday, February 26th will be a St. Anne Spirit Wear Day! Let’s keep our “spirits” up this week! It will be a regular uniform day but wear the Spirit Wear if you have it! If you are interested in purchasing spirit wear items, please see the attached flyer:

Our province is still reminding us not to congregate in any areas (snow hill, park, etc) and daily screening must be done before coming to school each morning. Thank you sincerely for all your ongoing understanding and support!

Don’t forget we are still proceeding with our Fundraising initiatives, so if you visit COBS in Headon Forest (safely with masks of course!) mention that you are from St. Anne! Our FlipGive app/site is also still available to purchase items for yourself from various places! Both COBS and FlipGive give us percentages back every time! This week we remember our Catholic Social Teaching of Human Dignity as we strive to focus on treating others with Dignity, Kindness and Respect. Let’s all remember those three words as we drive through the snow, wear our Pink Shirts on Wednesday, and review our report cards! Let’s continue to be one community focused on the Common Good as Jesus has taught us.
