School Update: Sept. 17

Good afternoon to our St. Anne families!

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we navigate this first week of school with everyone in the building. As we move through each day, we continuously adjust as we see needs. One of the areas I have been looking at this week as we started is the Primary dismissal and the congregation of our parents on each side.

Spreading out at Dismissal!

Therefore, I am proposing that as you arrive around 3:00pm to 3:05pm, could you please spread out onto the playground in the following “zones” marked on the yard:

On the kindergarten side parking lot area (WEST side), enter through the gate and spread out in Zones 4 and 5 (which are around the Red Ball hoop and by the path to Palladium Way).

On the park side parking lot (EAST side) enter through the gate and move to Zones 7 & 8 away from the portables.

Primary teachers will still be exiting with their classes out Door #8 & Door #9. Hopefully this will make it easier for you to see to collect your Primary child(ren).

PLEASE REMAIN IN YOUR ZONES until your child(ren) come to you. (It’s what we tell the students too at recess!)

NOTE: When you cannot physically distance yourself from others, the guidelines and protocols from Public Health stipulate that you should be wearing a mask. Please remember this as you come onto our yard to keep everyone that is around you safe and healthy.

As always, we recommend avoiding our parking lots. Please remember to limit the amount of people coming to the school for pick up (and drop off) and spread out into the new zone areas as indicated above while you wait for your child(ren). You can still remain at the gates, but if there is crowding, please move to the Zones on your side in the playground.

Missed First Communion Information!

Make up times are now available from St. Paul Parish for those that were supposed to do their First Communion in the Spring of 2020. Please see the St. Paul Parish site, or click here as we have posted it to our website as well:

Finally, please remember the Daily Self Screening! Parents and guardians must perform daily screening of their child(ren) for COVID-19 symptoms BEFORE leaving for school using the COVID-19 Self-Assessment. Check your child’s temperature to ensure they do not have a fever (temperature greater than 37.8oC). Monitor for signs and symptoms (including atypical symptoms) of COVID-19. If any signs or symptoms, student and other household members must stay home, and school must be contacted.

Please note that if a student or staff member shows signs or symptoms of COVID-19 or has come into close contact with anyone suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19, they cannot come to school. They must self-isolate and seek medical advice. Parents are able to access the Daily Self-Assessment for HCDSB students HERE.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and support as we work together to protect everyone to ensure a safe and healthy return to school!

Mr. B. Melanson
