Daily School Screening
Thank you to all our parents and guardians for providing a daily confirmation/log of your child’s School Screening. Starting Monday, September 20th schools will no longer need screening confirmation, however, it is extremely important that all parents/guardians continue to complete the Daily School Screening https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/ BEFORE students come to school each and every morning. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping everyone safe!
Any student or staff with signs/symptoms of COVID-19 MUST Stay at home / Self-isolate / Be referred for testing for COVID-19.
Arriving on Time
It is very important that students arrive on time for school in the morning. Students may begin arriving at 8:45 AM but not before. Please make every effort to arrive no later than 9:00 AM so we can avoid congestion at the office which happens when we need to give out late slips. We appreciate your support in keeping everyone safe!
Family Consent Forms
As you know, at the beginning of each school year, parents and guardians are asked to complete a hardcopy information/consent form for each child enrolled in our school. Beginning this year, we will be collecting this information electronically, and are asking parents/guardians to complete the form online.
Parents are asked to complete the online form, which may be accessed HERE. The form should take you no longer than 10 minutes to complete.
Important Notes Before Completing the Form:
- If you have more than one child enrolled in an HCDSB school, please complete a separate form for each child.
- Only one parent/guardian is required to complete a form for each child.
- You will need your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) to submit this form. The OEN can be found on a recent report card.
- Please ensure you are submitting your child’s preferred name or the name you provided at registration.
- The form can be completed using a computer, smart phone, or tablet.

School Textbooks and Library Books
Thank you to everyone who took the time to return school resources to us this week. We are still missing several textbooks and library books which would be quite costly to replace. Please have one more look around your home to see if you have any school resources to return to us, we would be most grateful!
Family Paint Night Wednesday in Recognition of Orange Shirt Day

Students in Grades 1-6 have been issued agendas. Agendas are intended to provide families and staff with a means of regular daily communication. In an effort to reduce costs, we have changed our agenda supplier this year. We would ask for your help in defraying costs by paying $5 for the agenda using SchoolCashOnline by Friday, October 1.
As we do every year, we will be completing our emergency safety drills. We will follow the advice of both the Fire Marshall and public health in executing our drills this year to help keep everyone safe. We had our first of our three fall fire drills last week and we anticipate two more drills this coming week.
Please ensure you have returned the necessary forms for any medical perils (anaphylaxis, asthma, diabetes, seizure disorders, etc.) to the office along with any medication needed so we can update our files.
Please be aware that St. Andrew School strives to be a nut aware environment. We have students with life-threatening allergies to nuts and other allergens. No peanut butter or other nut products are allowed. Please check labels before sending items in school lunches and for snacks. Even a trace of nut oil from one child’s fingers to a desk surface can cause a deadly reaction. Please note that Wow Butter (soy product) is not allowed as well since we cannot distinguish between it and peanut butter.
Save the Date for our Virtual Open House!
Please mark Wednesday, September 29 from 6:30-7:30 PM in your calendars to participate in our Virtual Open House. Please join us as we begin in prayer together as a community followed by a brief presentation about some of the changes inside and outside of the school building this year, then meet your children’s educators and view individual presentations to find out more about what the learning in your child’s classroom will look like this school year. This is a wonderful opportunity to ask questions and learn about classroom routines and expectations.
The introductory session will be conducted through Teams, and the link will be shared through email at 5:30 pm on the day of the open house. Educators will provide more information about how to access their presentations on their digital platforms next week.
