Weekly Update November 2nd, 2020

All Souls Day – November 2

Jesus, Dear Savior, on this day we prayerfully remember all our loved ones who have died. Please give them comfort and hope and may they be at peace, knowing they will rest in God’s arms eternally. Thank you for our memories of them and for the good times we shared. We ask You, please, through their intercession, to deepen our faith, strengthen our hope and increase our love that we, too, may someday stand before You, ready to enter Your Holy Kingdom. Amen

Covid Updates

Keeping our students, staff, and families safe from Covid-19 is truly a team effort and we are all in this together.

You can continue to support us by:

  • monitoring your children for symptoms of COVID-19 and keeping them home from school when they do not feel well
  • completing the daily screening tool each day before sending your children to school: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/
  • knowing when it is safe to return your child to school after they have been ill by following our Public Health Department’s guidelines found below
  • wearing a mask and ensuring physical distancing is in place when picking up or dropping off your children
  • You can also help by reminding your children of the importance of following public health guidelines in the community even when they are not at school.

The school board will continue to communicate regularly with public health and we will updates as we receive new information. Thank you for your ongoing support, together we will work to keep our community safe.

Virtual Curriculum Night

We were thrilled that so many people attended our Virtual Open House last Monday night. Thank you for taking the time to dind out more about what learning looks like this year at St. Andrew.

Please remember that you are always welcome to contact your children’s educators with any additional questions that you may have about their learning and/or health and safety.

November is Indigenous Awareness Month

Throughout the month of November and during this school year, HCDSB students and staff will acknowledge the contributions and legacy of First Nation, Métis and Inuit peoples in Canada. Our National Anthem that plays over the PA System in the mornings will be in English, French, and in the Anishinaabemowin language during this month to show solidarity with the Indigenous peoples.

Boogie-a-thon Fundraiser

Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who helped organize our Boogie-a-thon by shopping, writing emails, and putting together loot bags for our students. We are extremely grateful to you for helping to make our fundraiser a success. We greatly appreciate all of the donations parents provided for our fundraiser. Through your generosity, we were able to raise over $15, 000! This will greatly benefit all of our students, both those learning in the building and those learning at home. If you didn’t get a chance to donate, our School CashOnline will remain open through this weekend.

St. Andrew Spirit Wear

This year, in an effort to promote community during a time when we cannot gather, we are offering families an opportunity to purchase St. Andrew Catholic School Spirit Wear to commemorate “The one where we were together… apart”.

Beginning on Saturday, October 31st, parents/guardians and staff can purchase St. Andrew beenies/touques, hoodies, and t-shirts. Orders purchased by November 20th will arrive in time for Christmas and we think these will make perfect Christmas gifts for your kids!

We think that this will be an awesome way to show our school spirit, that we are #togetherapart!
