Retrieval of Student Belongings and Drop-off of School Items

On June 22, 23, 24 and 25, parents and guardians are invited, by appointment, to come and pick up their children’s belongings and drop off items that belong to the school. Each family will have a scheduled 10-minute time between 9:00 and 4:00 to make the exchange.

Each family will be receiving an email with their time, date, and entrance to retrieve and drop off belongings. This has been a tremendous undertaking to coordinate the over 500 appointments. The staff will be arranging items by family, in order of pick up time, date, and entrance. As I am sure you can appreciate from the complexity of planning, we will not be able meet any requests for changes in appointment times.

If you are unable to pick up belongings on your scheduled date, we will hold onto belongings until September.

Family Names Beginning with:

  • A-C – Entrance #11 – Park in the North Parking Lot – This is the Kindergarten/YMCA entrance near Mrs. Cuggy-Murphy’s room.
  • D- G – Entrance #13 – Park in the North Parking Lot – This is the Kindergarten entrance at the front of the school near Mrs. Harrison/Mrs. Calamanici’s room.
  • H-L – Main Entrance – Park in the bus lane
  • M-N – Entrance #3 – Park in the South Parking lot – This is the Custodial Entrance
  • O-Sk – Entrance #4 – Park in the South Parking lot – This is the side entrance by the Kiss n’ Ride
  • Sm-Z – Entrance #6 – Park in the South Parking lot close to portables – this is the back door closest to the portables.

Please note that only parents or guardians will be permitted to arrive at the school site. Students will not be able to access the school or playground. If you must bring your children, please ensure that they remain in the car at all times. Please arrive on time and do not linger.

Grade 8 Graduation

We will be having a special live virtual Graduation Mass for our Grade 8 Graduates on Thursday, June 18th at 7:00 pm which all are welcome to attend here: Following the Mass, we will provide you with a link to our Pre-Recorded Virtual Graduation Ceremony.

On Friday, June 19th beginning at 6:00 pm, we will have a curbside diploma pick up for our Graduates. Families will receive a scheduled time to arrive, along with a safety protocol via email from their classroom teachers. If you do not know what your appointment time is, please contact your child’s teacher directly. We respectfully request that all families adhere strictly to the protocol.

Distance Learning

Thank you, parents, for supporting and working with our teachers to educate your children throughout this school closure period. We appreciate the many positive comments and feedback that we have received from you. It is a pleasure for our staff to continue to work in partnership with you! Distance Learning will end on June 26th (last day of school).

End of the Year Liturgy

We are in the process of organizing a virtual liturgy to come together with our community on the last day of school, June 26th at 11:00 am. This will be an opportunity to pray together, celebrate together, and say good-bye while wishing everyone a safe summer. It will be a live TEAMs meeting where staff, students, and parents will be invited to join in the event. We look forward to ending the year together in this special way!

The link for the virtual liturgy will be posted in your children’s online classrooms by Monday, June 22nd. You can join the session by clicking on the link.

You will then be directed to the following webpage. 

TEAMS will work on an iPhone or tablet by downloading the app. You can also download the app onto your computer. If you wish to join via those methods, you will need to download the app in advance of the virtual liturgy. Alternatively, you can click on “Join on the web instead”.

You will input your name and make sure that the video and audio options are selected to be off.  At this point you will click the ‘join now’ button to join the session.

Catholic School Council

We are very grateful for the wonderful Catholic School Council that we are blessed with at St Andrew. Through their efforts this year, your children have benefitted socially, emotionally, academically and spiritually. We thank them for their partnership and engagement in everything we do at St Andrew and for the tremendous support they tirelessly give our staff and students. Parents of Students with Medical Conditions

Near the end of the school year, the school usually sends home a copy of current Student Plan of Care for any students with medical conditions (anaphylaxis, asthma, heart conditions, seizure conditions, diabetes, etc.). Parents would update this and return prior to end of year.

This year, copies of the Student Plan of Care will not come home in June. The Plan of Care will continue as is. Upon return to school, the Student Plan of Care will be sent home to parents to review and update if necessary.

If your child has a change in their condition over the summer, please inform the school in the week prior to students returning. Please contact Mrs. Kotulak in this case.

Courtesy Seats on School Buses for the 2020-2021 School Year

Families with children who take the bus to school are advised that the application process for receiving courtesy seats on school buses will be delayed for the 2020-21 school year. Due to physical distancing measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it may not be possible to grant courtesy seats or the process may be delayed for next school year.

However, parents and guardians can continue to submit a Courtesy Seat Application, and will be notified via email once a decision on this process has been made.

Please note that there is no guarantee that a courtesy seat will be offered if you submit an application, or if your child had a courtesy seat in the past. Visit the Halton Student Transportation Services website for more information:

Change in Start and End Times for September 2020

The results of the 2020-2021 HSTS School Hour and Route Efficiency Review identified a change in school bell times for St. Andrew Catholic Elementary School. These changes have been made due to an increased demand for student transportation as a result of residential growth in North East Oakville. In order to accommodate all the students who will require transportation to school next year, HSTS had to add additional trips to existing bus routes, and our school hours were adjusted.

For the 2020-2021 school year, our school bell times will be 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
