To be a mother is a great treasure. Mothers in their unconditional & sacrificial love for their children are the antidote to individualism.

Catholic Education Week Thank You

We would like to thank our community and staff for engaging in activities that supported our theme of Igniting Hope during Catholic Education Week. The pictures and artwork you shared helped to demonstrate the wonderful work our Catholic Schools are doing!

Thank you Tiago in Mr. Spence’s class for taking on a special Catholic Education Week project to help out The Kerr Street Mission. You can read more about Tiago’s project HERE.

Mother’s Day: May 10th

Sunday, May 10th, is Mother’s Day. We honour and celebrate all of our mothers – including our grandmothers, godmothers, new mothers, mothers-to-be, step-mothers, foster mothers, adoptive mothers and all those who care for us in motherly ways. We also pray for all mothers who have entered the heavenly kingdom.

During this month of May, we continue to pray to the Blessed Virgin Mary, our role model of humility, patience, compassion, love and grace. Thank you to the ladies from Mary Mother of God Parish who are praying a daily Novena for all of our wonderful mothers.

We hope that you are able to take some time this weekend to slow down and enjoy some much-deserved rest.

A Special Blessing to All Mothers

Holy God, You compared your own love for your people to the love of a mother for her children. Look with kindess on all mothers who have shared in your creating love by the gift of their children.

We thank you for the joys and sorrows of their life, the giving and sharing, and, especially for your love that has formed us in your image.

Listen to our prayers, and bless all mothers who have nurtured and sustained us. Give them patience in abundance and let them find joy and satisfaction in all their work.

Glory and praise to you, loving God, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary, and who reigns with you in the glory of heaven, for ever and ever.

Special Mass for Our Grade 2 Students

Yesterday, Fr. Isaac and Debbie Frey held a special Mass for all of our Grade 2 students awaiting their First Holy Communion. It was a beautiful service and there were over 600 live viewers! We are so grateful to the parish team at MMOG for this special honour. Here is a beautiful video of our Grade 2 students as they patiently wait for their First Communion Day.

May is Hearing Awareness Month which is an entire month dedicated to educating the public about the importance of hearing health. HCDSB is dedicating this week to promote Hearing Awareness among our students and school community.

On Friday, May 15th, we will have DRESS LOUD DAY. Students and their families are encouraged to have fun and dress in their wackiest loudest clothing. Please post your pictures on your virtual classrooms and/or tweet them out using the hashtags #Dressloud2020.

Here are some tips for friends with hearing loss:

School Yearbooks

You can now purchase your 2019-2020 school yearbook through School Cash Online. The cost for a yearbook is $22. They will be given out in the Fall.

Teacher-Led Distance Learning

We wanted to remind you of the importance of staying connected and participating in Distance Learning during this time of school closure. If your child has not logged onto their virtual classroom or has not been submitting their work for a few days, your child’s teacher may reach out to you to see if there are any additional supports that we can offer you to assist in making the learning successful.

Family Support

Please remember to take care of your health and well-being as well as that of your family. The Halton Region has provided an updated resource list for families to refer to if they are in need of assistance: Halton-Food-Supports-for-FamiliesDownload

The Board also continues to provide many helpful resources listed on their website.
