Family Day – February 17
A reminder that Monday, February 17th is a holiday. Please enjoy your time with your family!
All Schools Closed on Friday, February 21st – Labour Negotiations Update
It was announced that on Friday, February 21, 2020 all elementary and secondary teachers, as well as many education workers across the province, will participate in a one-day walkout. This walkout will include members of the following four education unions in Ontario:
- Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens (AEFO);
- Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO);
- Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA); and
- Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF/FEESO)
OECTA represents all of our HCDSB elementary and secondary school teachers. A full withdrawal of services would mean that no instruction would take place in any of our classrooms, posing significant student supervision challenges that would threaten the safety of our elementary and secondary students. In light of these safety concerns, all HCDSB schools will be CLOSED to students on Friday, February 21, 2020. See our updates for more information: bit.ly/HCDSB-LabourUpdates
Black History Month
As we are half-way through Black History Month, our students have been learning about and celebrating the many wonderful contributions made throughout history by Black Canadians and African Americans. Please ask your children at home what they have been learning about.
On Thursday last week, we had some very special guests join us at school for our Breakfast Club Program sponsored by Halton Food for Thought. Thank you to all of our special guests and a very special thank you to our wonderful moms – Stefania Carone and Janice Mothersill who make our Breakfast Club Program a reality! Public Speaking Competition
On Monday, February 24th we will be having our School Level Public Speaking Competition. Two representatives from each grade from 4-8 will be taking part in our school level speech competition at 1 PM in our gymnasium. One student will be selected to go on to the municipal speech levels. Good luck to all of our speakers!
Term 1 Report Cards
All students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 will be bringing home their reports on Wednesday. These reports are an excellent opportunity for you to celebrate your child’s successes and ask them about their goals for the rest of the year. While there are no formal interviews this term, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you wish to discuss their learning. As well, for students in Grades 1-8, please sign and return the last portion of the report card to your child’s teacher as soon as possible.
Due to the strike on Friday, our next pizza day will be postponed until Friday, February 28th.
