Black History Month
We are blessed at St. Andrew School to be enriched by a culturally diverse community. During the month of February, we enjoy learning about the legacy of Black Canadians, both past and present, and honour their contributions to our society.
In addition to reading daily trivia over the announcements, this year our Student Council has put together a Black History Month Bingo activity for each class. Each class will get a large Bingo Card with photos of famous Black Canadians. Classes will have to do some research together to be able to complete the game. The class who wins the Bingo game will win a pizza party.
We encourage families at home to also spend some time learning about the valuable contributions Black Canadians have made to our country. Here is a starting point for you: 23 Historical Black Canadian You Should Know

As a reminder, supervision begins at 8:35 am. For the safety of your children, we request that your child NOT be on school property until a supervisor is on duty. Please see that your children leave home with ample time to ensure that they are on the schoolyard when the bell rings. If your child(ren) walk to school, please encourage them to use appropriate crosswalks and walkways. Establish routines at home that will assist your child to arrive on time. Please be aware that the volume of traffic in the parking lot increases significantly just prior to the entry bell. For safety, children arriving late for school must first report to the office. We encourage them to arrive on time and line with their class at 8:50 am when possible.
