Progress Reports and Learning Conferences

Progress Reports for all students in Grades 1-8 and the Initial Communication of Learning for all Kindergarten students go home on Wednesday, November 20. Interview times for Thursday, November 21 and Friday, November 22 will also go home in the report card envelopes.

We encourage you to spend some time speaking with your child about their learning, including what they have learned, what they are proud of, and what they would like to learn to do better. We want to celebrate the progress and the success of each child.

For students in Grades 1-8, please return Page 3 along with the report card envelope to your child’s teacher. (Kindergarten students only need to return their envelopes.)

PA Day – Friday, November 22, 2019

Please note that due to our Learning Conferences (Parent-Teacher Interviews), Friday will be a PA Day and there will therefore be no school for students.

Bullying Prevention Launch

On November 12th, some of our Intermediate students attended our School Board’s “See the Problem Be the Solution” presentation at Holy Trinity.  As a school community, we continue to discuss how we are impacted by conflict, rude or mean behaviour, and bullying. We also learn to distinguish between them. This chart can be helpful in developing our understanding of what these behaviours are, and how to handle them: Conflict Rude Mean Bullying Behaviours.

First Reconciliation for Grade 2 Students

Our Grade 2 students will be receiving their First Reconciliation on Saturday, November 30th at 9:30 am.

Feast of St. Andrew

Friday, November 29th is the Feast Day of St. Andrew. We will celebrate with a Liturgy in the gymnasium at 10:00 am hosted by our Grade 7 students. During our Liturgy, we will also celebrate the coming of the First Week of Advent and light our new Advent Wreath. Parents and Guardians are invited to attend to celebrate with us!

Tree of Love for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SSVP)

As Advent approaches, we prepare our homes and hearts for one of the holiest celebrations of our Catholic faith, the birth of our Lord.  It is a time for celebration and a time for us to reflect on how we are living Christ’s mission of serving others, especially the poor.  With his Holiness Pope Francis as our leader, we are being constantly reminded that Jesus called us to serve those in need.

This Christmas season, our school community will continue to support the St. Vincent de Paul Society and families in need who live in our immediate neighbourhood.

Please help to support families by bringing in a gift card for either Walmart  or  Canadian Superstore. Student participants will hang an ornament on our Tree of Love. Please help us fill our St. Andrew tree with the light of kindness and hope for families that are less fortunate.

We will start receiving the gift cards on Monday, December 2 and ask that all gift cards be delivered to the school by Monday, December 9.

Dressing for the Weather

Please remember to send your children with warm clothing such as hats, mittens, boots, and snow pants. Even with the cold weather, we will be going outside as much as possible, and we want our students to be dressed appropriately to enjoy the outdoors. As well, please remember to send indoor shoes if you haven’t already done so. Our Lost and Found bin is over-flowing! Please feel free to come and look for lost or missing items. Please remember to label all items of your children’s clothing so that found items can be returned to them.
