The best way to show my gratitude to God is to accept everything, even my problems, with joy. ~ Saint Teresa of Calcutta
Our students have had a wonderful t learning how to play “footie” with our friends from down under.
Catholic School Council
Our Catholic School Council held their first meeting on October 2nd, 2019. We thank them for offering up their time to serve our school community this year. Our next Council meeting will take place on Thursday, November 13th at 6:30 pm in the school library. All are welcome to attend!
On Thursday, October 31st, we will be hosting our ANNUAL ST. ANDREW BOOGIE-A-THON! This is our one major fundraiser for the year. The money from our fundraiser will be used to purchase items and activities for our students that will enhance their experiences here at St. Andrew School. We appreciate any financial support you can give us, it all goes towards enhancing our children’s education! For more information, and to learn how you can support our school, please see our Boogie-A-Thon Announcement.
First Reconciliation Parent Information Evening
On October 17, at 7:00 pm, there will be a parent information meeting for all Grade 2 parents at Mary Mother of God Parish to discuss First Reconciliation.
Beginning in November, Mary Mother of God Parish will offer a monthly Mass for Catholics (young and old) with sensory sensitivities including Autism, Down Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorder and ADHD. On the second Sunday of the month, at 3:00 pm, we will offer Mass with less sensory input. You can expect lower lights, softer music, low gluten host, smaller host portions, shorter and more literal homilies and the freedom to move around if necessary. Most importantly, you’ll receive the Eucharist while surrounded by fellow worshipers with a welcoming attitude. Feel free to bring whatever supports you may need, including fidget toys, weighted blankets, noise cancelling headphones, sunglasses or comfort toys. Dates for our sensory-friendly Masses are: Nov 10, Dec 15, Jan 12, Feb 9, March (cancelled for March Break) April 12, May 10, June 14. For more information, please contact Debbie Frey at email@example.com.
We will be having a Thanksgiving Liturgy on Thursday, October 10th at 1:00 in the gymnasium hosted by our Grade 4 students. Parents and Guardians are welcome to attend.
PA Day & Thanksgiving Holiday
Please note that Friday, October 11th is a Professional Activity Day. There will be no school for students on this date. We would also like to remind our parents that next Monday, October 14th, is the Thanksgiving Holiday. We wish all our families a blessed Thanksgiving.
Milk and Special Lunch Programs
Our milk program will begin on Monday for those who have ordered milk. Our first Pizza Day will be on Friday, October 18th. LunchBox Orders for Swiss Chalet and Subway will also be available again this year; you will be receiving more information about our Lunchbox Orders this week.
Student Safety When Signing Out Over the Lunch Hour
To help keep our students safe, please remember that we require written permission for students to leave school property unaccompanied by a parent or guardian during the lunch hour. We ask parents to review your expectations with your children for where they should be and how they should conduct themselves when they are off school property over the lunch hour and remind them to be on time when they return to school in the afternoon. Please remember that students are NOT supervised by school staff when they are off school property, and this includes in the park across the street. We appreciate your support in helping keep all of our students safe.
