Catholic Education Week

Each year, the Catholic community of Ontario engages in a week-long celebration of the unique identity and distinctive contributions of Catholic education during Catholic Education Week. This year’s celebration is entitled, “Catholic Education: Living as Joyful Disciples” and will be held during the week of May 5 – May 11, 2019. “Our Catholic schools help to form joyful disciples as hearts and minds are opened to the transforming love of God and to the flame of faith in action. On a daily basis, Catholic schools demonstrate the joy of believing and witness the Good News to the communities that they serve.”

At St. Andrew School, we will be celebrating the week by inviting families into the school to participate in a variety of events and activities. We hope to see many of you during our school celebrations. To learn about all of the events happening at our school, please see our flyer: Catholic Education Week May 2019

EQAO – Let’ Show What We Know!

At St. Andrew Catholic School, we understand that the purpose of the E.Q.A.O. assessment is to promote academic excellence and improvement in student achievement throughout all schools in our province.  As educators, we respond to our E.Q.A.O. results with appropriate accountability, integrity and due diligence.  As a Catholic school and as Catholic educators, however, we are called to respond in a distinctive manner for we believe that our students are described not only in terms of knowledge and skills, but also in terms of values, attitudes and actions. When we encourage our students to utilize all of their God-given gifts to the best of their ability, we are fostering an environment of servitude and promoting the understanding that we are loved and valued as children of God because of who we are rather than how we perform and what we produce.

Our Grade 3 students will be participating in the EQAO Primary Assessments on Wednesday, May 22nd, Friday, May 24th, and Tuesday, May 28th in both the mornings and afternoons.

Our Grade 6 students will be participating in the EQAO Junior Assessments in the mornings from May 21st – May 28th.

The types of questions in the EQAO test booklets will be familiar to your child as they are based on the work your child has been doing throughout the year. Sample questions can be viewed on the EQAO website at www.eqao.com.

We ask that you make every effort to avoid holidays during these days and to try to make sure your children are in attendance each day during the assessment.  In advance, we appreciate your efforts in scheduling appointments around this block of time.

The EQAO assessment results help us to continue to improve upon the quality Catholic education offered to your children

Moving? Please let us know!

Please let the office know as soon as possible if your child(ren) will be attending another school in September. This information helps us with our planning as we begin to think about building tentative classes for next year.
