“I really only love God as much as I love the person I love the least.”~ Dorothy Day
Goodbye and God Bless
Each year at this time we have to say goodbye to those who are leaving St Andrew to share their gifts and talents in other communities. We have enjoyed much laughter, much joy and much love with you here at St Andrew and we wish you every blessing as you heed God’s calling and serve where He leads you. We have been enriched by your presence here at our school and you will be greatly missed! May God bless you abundantly as you continue your journey in Catholic Education.
At this time, we also say goodbye to the following staff members:
~ Mrs Linda Young will be moving on to teach at St. Timothy School in Burlington
~ Mrs. Grace Rogulski and Mrs. Inese Hill will be retiring this year. We wish them all the best as they move onto a new chapter in their lives and thank them from the bottom of our hearts for the many years they served in Catholic Education.

As with all volunteer-run events, more volunteers mean a smoother running event. Thank you to our many community partners, parents, staff and student volunteers who are making this all possible! Please continue to have your children bring in items for our Raffle Baskets.
Families who have pre-ordered play-all-day wristbands, treat tickets, raffle tickets, and meal tickets will be receiving them on Wednesday, June 5th.
The girls in our Little Flower Club have been working hard making beautiful candles that they will be selling at the BBQ to raise money for the Carmelite cloister in St. Agatha.

Please let the office know as soon as possible if your child(ren) will be attending another school in September by calling our Office staff at 905-257-7102. This information helps us with our planning as we begin to think about building tentative classes for next year.
Closing School Mass
As we leave for the summer, we take time to thank God for the gift of Catholic Education, and for the wonderful school year, we have spent together as a community at St Andrew. Our final school mass will be taking place on June 13, 2019, at Mary Mother of God Parish at 10:00 am. We will be celebrating the Eucharist in honour of our graduating students. Please join us in praying for our young people as they leave us and take the next step in their faith journey.
Grade Eight Graduation
Our wonderful Grade 8’s will be graduating from St Andrew on Friday, June 21st at 7:00 pm. The ceremony will be followed by a dance in the gymnasium. Pick up will be at 10:45 pm. Parents of our graduates are reminded to watch for communication coming home about the Graduation Ceremony and events leading up to this special occasion.
Sun Protection – With the warm, beautiful days of spring and summer approaching, parents need to be aware of, and take action to prevent damage from the sun’s rays to your child(ren)’s skin. Students are outside for two separate 15-minute recess breaks and a 40-minute lunch recess break each day. Please assist us in keeping your children safe and healthy by ensuring your children wear appropriate clothing, including close-toed shoes, a hat and sunblock. Our staff cannot apply sunblock on to your children.
Dress Code – With the warmer weather upon us, we remind students that they are expected to dress in a manner appropriate for a learning setting; i.e. we do not dress for the beach at school. We ask that students not wear: tank tops, muscle shirts, halter tops, or very short shorts; no undergarments should be showing. Students are running and playing at recess and during physical education. The clothing they are wearing should allow free and flexible movement with comfort, and their footwear should not fall off and should be close-toed. Students are reminded that their clothing should represent the values we aspire to as Catholic students, offensive language or images are not appropriate on school premises. If your child is wearing clothing that is not appropriate for the school learning environment, they will be given something else to wear, or alternatively, a call home will be made to make arrangements for your child to change. We thank parents and students for cooperating with our school dress code.
Personal Electronic Devices
Digital Citizenship – We would like to remind our students and families of the policies around the acceptable use of personal electronic devices on school premises. Students who bring a cell phone or any personal electronic device to school must demonstrate digital citizenship through the appropriate use of technology, as outlined in our school Code of Conduct. They must use board technology for curriculum-related/educational purposes only. Lastly, in order to maintain the order and safety of our students, they are to use the office phone to contact parents during the instructional day, with permission from the teacher.
