One of the main tasks of theology is to find words that do not divide but unite, that do not create conflict buy unity, that do no hurt but  heal. ~ Henri Nouwen

Catholic Education Week

Each year, the Catholic community of Ontario engages in a week-long celebration of the unique identity and distinctive contributions of Catholic education during Catholic Education Week. This year’s celebration is entitled, “Catholic Education: Living as Joyful Disciples” and will be held during the week of May 5 – May 11, 2019. “Our Catholic schools help to form joyful disciples as hearts and minds are opened to the transforming love of God and to the flame of faith in action. On a daily basis, Catholic schools demonstrate the joy of believing and witness the Good News to the communities that they serve.”

At St. Andrew School, we will be celebrating the week by inviting families into the school to participate in a variety of events and activities. We hope to see many of you during our school celebrations. To learn about all of the events happening at our school, please see our flyer: Catholic Education Week May 2019

EQAO

Once again our students in Grades 3 and 6 will be participating in the provincial Assessments of Reading, Writing and Mathematics created by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO). This assessment is administered to all Grade 3 and 6 students in Ontario’s publicly funded school system. In six one-hour sessions, students will complete a variety of assessment activities designed to allow them to demonstrate their skills and knowledge relating to reading, writing, and mathematics as described in The Ontario Curriculum. The assessment is administered province-wide and is developed by Ontario teachers and assessment experts to reflect curriculum expectations.

If you have any questions about the assessment, please contact your child’s teacher.

Our Grade 3 students will be participating in the EQAO Primary Assessments from Wednesday, May 22nd – Tuesday, May 28th.

Our Grade 6 students will be participating in the EQAO Junior Assessments from Tuesday, May 21st – Tuesday, May 28th.

If at all possible, please avoid booking appointments or holidays during these dates if you have a child or children in Grades 3 or 6 so that they can write the assessments with their classmates. As always, we thank you for your support!
