He is not here; He is RISEN ~ Mark 16:6

Easter Monday- April 22nd

We hope all of our families enjoy a blessed Easter, the holiest of holidays on the Christian calendar as it marks the fulfillment of God’s promise. Rejoice, He is risen! Following Easter Sunday, the season of Easter begins and lasts for seven weeks, ending with Pentecost. It is a time for rejoicing and reflection.

School will resume on Tuesday, April 23rd.

Earth Week April 23-26

For our Earth Day celebration will be on April 23rd, we will be exploring the wonderful world of pollinators and how incredibly important they are to the health of our planet.  Students will be watching the Disney documentary, Wings of Life, followed by some further exploration of the theme in their classrooms.  Classes will also be provided with seeds of native plants for pollinators for students to take home and plant in their gardens with their families.  If you would like further information regarding the planting of the seeds please follow the link:

We will be having Walk to School Wednesday – staff and students who are able to are encouraged to walk or bike to school to help reduce our carbon emissions. Did you know that the average North American spends 18 days of the year in a car? That’s a long time on the road! It’s also a lot of carbon dioxide. The fewer cars on the road, the less CO2 from the exhaust.

We will be having Litterless Lunch on Thursday – please support this initiative by helping your child(ren) plan a lunch that supports a healthy Earth. It has been estimated that on average a school-age child using a disposable (lunch) generates 67 pounds of (waste) per school year. That equates to 18,760 pounds of (lunch waste) for just one
average-size elementary school.

Throughout the week, our Eco-Team will be sharing important eco-tips via our morning announcements!

Our Grade 7 students will be having a Confirmation Celebration Luncheon on Thursday, April 25th at Tucker’s Market Place. We are grateful to our School Council for supporting this celebration for our Confirmandi.

Catholic Education Week

Each year, the Catholic community of Ontario engages in a week-long celebration of the unique identity and distinctive contributions of Catholic education during Catholic Education Week. This year’s celebration is entitled, “Catholic Education: Living as Joyful Disciples” and will be held during the week of May 5 – May 11, 2019. “Our Catholic schools help to form joyful disciples as hearts and minds are opened to the transforming love of God and to the flame of faith in action. On a daily basis, Catholic schools demonstrate the joy of believing and witness the Good News to the communities that they serve.”

At St. Andrew School, we will be celebrating the week by inviting families into the school to participate in a variety of events and activities. We hope to see many of you during our school celebrations. To learn about all of the events happening at our school, please see our flyer: Catholic Education Week May 2019
