They gave their tomorrow so we could have our today….Lest We Forget
Remembrance Day Service
We will have a Remembrance Day service on Friday, November 9th at 10:30 AM in the gymnasium. Our Grade 3 students will be leading this service. Students who are members of the Girl Guides and Scouting Movement (e.g. Sparks, Beavers, Brownies, etc.) are encouraged to wear their uniforms for the liturgy. Afterward, our Ontario Catholic Graduate Awards for Collaborative Contributors will be handed out. If your child will be receiving an award, you will be contacted by your child’s teacher in advance of the 9th.
November is Indigenous Awareness Month
Throughout the month of November and during this school year, HCDSB students and staff will acknowledge the contributions and legacy of First Nation, Métis and Inuit peoples in Canada.

SafeArrival Student Absence Reporting is Coming to Our School!
The safety and wellbeing of our students is our highest priority, and we are happy to announce that starting Monday, November 5, 2018, our school will be moving to a new automated student attendance management system called SafeArrival.
The SafeArrival system will be available 24/7, allowing you to report your child’s absence in one of three ways:
- using the SchoolMessenger® mobile app
- by logging into the SchoolMessenger® website
- by calling into an interactive toll-free phone line
SafeArrival will enhance our existing student attendance procedure, making it more convenient for parents to report a child’s absence, and more efficient for our school office staff to follow up sooner on unexplained absences. To learn more:
Crossing Guard Safety
The Crossing Guard Office of the Town of Oakville has reached out to schools to help keep crossing guards safe by reminding drivers and cyclists to wait until all pedestrians have cleared the crosswalk before crossing and to stop and park only in legally designated areas.
Clocks Changing – Fall Back
Don’t forget to move your clocks back an hour on Sunday so that you are on time for school on Monday!
Mini High School Day will take place on November 14th, 2018. This day allows students to experience a little bit of what a day might look like at Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School.
The day will begin at 9:15 and end at 1:30 pm. Students will follow a 4 period timetable consisting of 25 minute classes in Math and English as well as an elective course in the afternoon.
A pizza lunch will be provided.
There is also a permission form on our website that parents will be required to fill out and bring to the Guidance Office by November 2nd, 2018. (This permission form can be found by following the link at the end of this Registration Form). Please note that due to the volume of students that attend on this day we will try our best to accommodate your academic choices.
