Important Information for Students with Anaphylaxis
If your child or someone in your family has anaphylaxis and carries an EpiPen, please review the following information from Health Canada about a potential issue with the devices getting stuck in their delivery tubes: http://www.healthycanadians.gc.ca/recall-alert-rappel-avis/hc-sc/2018/67860a-eng.php
As well, please note that the board policy states that epinephrine is the first-line medication that should be used in the emergency management of a person having a potentially life-threatening reaction. Antihistamines such as Benadryl must not be used as first-line treatment for an anaphylactic reaction.
Please contact the school if you have any questions about either point of information.
