Look up not down, look forward not back, look out not in.
We celebrated another wonderful year at St Andrew at our Annual Spring BBQ on Thursday evening. The the rain held off and we had a marvellous evening. We wish to thank the many incredible parent volunteers for all of your help in organizing such a spectacular event. We also want to thank the many staff members who came to help out, our student volunteers, and the volunteers from Holy Trinity. Many hands make light work!
Dismissal Routines on the Pavement
We would like to establish some new dismissal routines for the pavement on the playground at the end of the day. We now have double yellow lines dividing up our playground. We respectfully request that, for the safety of our students, no parent stands within the boundary created by the grass and the yellow lines. Parents can wait for their children on the outside of the rectangle created by the pavement, the grass, and the double yellow lines. We thank you for your cooperation.
Parents and guardians are reminded that when they are dropping off or picking up their children during school hours they are to enter the school building via the main entrance only and report immediately to the office. Parents are not permitted in the hallways or near the students’ lockers. We need to enforce this rule to keep all of our students safe.

Our final school council meeting this year will be held Wednesday, June 20th, at 6:30 pm in the school library. As always, you are welcome to join us.

Our final school mass will be taking place on June 14, 2018, at Mary Mother of God Parish at 10:00 am. We will be celebrating the Eucharist in honour of our graduating students. Please join us in praying for our young people as they leave us and take the next step in their faith journey.

The talent show will be presented in the school gymnasium on Tuesday, June 26 beginning at 9:00 am. Parents are welcome to attend. The talent show is always a school favourite and we have no doubt that this year’s show will be a winner!
Sun Protection – With the warm, beautiful days of spring and summer approaching, parents need to be aware of, and take action to prevent damage from the sun’s rays to your child(ren)’s skin. Students are outside for two separate 15-minute recess breaks and a 40-minute lunch recess break each day. Please assist us in keeping your children safe and healthy by ensuring your children wear appropriate clothing, including close-toed shoes, a hat and sun block. Our staff cannot apply sunblock on to your children.
Dress Code – With the warmer weather upon us, we remind students that they are expected to dress in a manner appropriate for a learning setting; i.e. we do not dress for the beach at school. We ask that students not wear: tank tops, muscle shirts, halter tops, or very short shorts; no undergarments should be showing. Students are running and playing at recess and during physical education. The clothing they are wearing should allow free and flexible movement with comfort, and their footwear should not fall off and should be close-toed. Students are reminded that their clothing should represent the values we aspire to as Catholic students, offensive language or images are not appropriate on school premises. If your child is wearing clothing that is not appropriate for the school learning environment, they will be given something else to wear, or alternatively, a call home will be made to make arrangements for your child to change. We thank parents and students for cooperating with our school dress code.
Missing Textbooks and Library Books
Parents, we ask that you continue to check closets, trunks, under beds, etc. for any school books that may be hiding and return them to us as soon as possible. The more we receive back, the fewer we have to replace. By working together to locate missing textbooks and library books, we are able to responsibly minimize costs to the school. If a book belonging to the school has been damaged or lost, please contact your child’s teacher and he/she will assist you in determining the replacement cost. All books are due back June 8th, 2018 so that we can conduct an inventory and make purchases for the new school year.
