Thank you to all of the parents who helped decorate the gym so beautifully for our graduation ceremonies and dance. It was a magical evening and the gym was transformed. We are truly grateful to you for making the evening so special for our students. We would like to especially thank our chief decorator, Mrs. Oliveira, for all of her time and energies, but most of all, for her beautiful vision and her help in making it a reality.
Thank you to the many staff members who contributed their own time to help make the graduation a special event for our graduates. Your work is God’s love made visible. A special thank you to our Grade Eight teachers, Mr. Tallevi, Mr. Maillet, Mrs. Moseley-Williams and Mrs. Boyko, and to our amazing secretary, Mrs. Walters (who spent many hours printing graduation certificates).

SCHOOL COUNCIL 2018-2019
Being part of School Council is one way of volunteering. It provides an opportunity to develop and promote activities which will enhance the quality of school programs and improve the levels of student achievement. If you are interested in being a part of our Catholic School Council next year, nomination packages will be available in the office at the start of September. A School Council needs to be established within the first 30 school days of the new academic year. Details will follow in September through the newsletter and our school website. Our Talent Show will be taking place on Tuesday, June 26th beginning at 9:00 am. Parents are welcome to attend. We have 27 exciting acts for your to see; hope you can join us!
Term 2 Report Cards
Report Cards for Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 students will be sent home on Tuesday, June 26th, 2018. We hope that you will take this opportunity to celebrate learning and growth as well as accomplishments with your child. Please sign and return the bottom portion to school on Wednesday, June 27th.
We are so proud of the many accomplishments of each and every one of our students. The report card allows us to comment on their academic accomplishments. But it does not allow us to comment on our students’ many other accomplishments this year. We cannot share how their smile brightens our day, how they helped out in the office when we were short of hands, how they helped their friend when they were hurt on the playground, or how they danced a jig when they scored their first goal. We cannot give them a mark for coming to the office to calm a little brother when he was nervous, or for being kind, or trustworthy. The report card won’t tell you that your child owned up to and made amends for a mistake, forgave a friend for hurting them, or gave away a favourite eraser to someone in need. It won’t tell you that your child has practiced doing cartwheels at recess for four days straight before finally getting it right. But we would like you to know, we noticed their many accomplishments, and we are so proud of them!
Year End Assembly
We will be having a Year-End Assembly on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at 10:30 am. We will be giving out our final GRIT Awards and OCGE Awards for the year. Parents of the award winners will all be notified in advance. We will also be saying goodbye to the staff members who are leaving during this assembly. All are welcome to attend.
Lost and Found
Our Lost and Found is absolutely over-flowing with many items of clothing including winter jackets and winter boots. Please come and check out the items before we donate it all to charity.
If we hold medications for your child in the office, please arrange to pick them up by dismissal on Friday afternoon. If they are not picked up, we will send them home with your child at dismissal.
Last Day of School
The last day of school for students will be on Friday, June 29th. The Board has informed us that there will be an early dismissal, therefore the students will be ready for home (the Y /buses) at 1:50 p.m. Buses will also be arriving at that time and dropping students off 90 min earlier at home. Please ensure that your children know how they are arriving home after this early dismissal day.
September Start-Up 2018
Office Hours Starting Monday, August 27
The school office will be open on Monday, August 27 at 8:30 a.m. Office staff and administration will be available all of that week. New registrations will be accepted that week as well. Please drop off epi-pens, other medications and forms during this week. Parents are also invited to review the medical plans with the administration this week, if possible.
Tuesday, September 4, Back to School Grades 1 – 8
On your child’s report card is an OEN (Ontario Education Number). As of August 31st, you will be able to log on to the board’s website and access your child’s class placement by using the OEN. As registrations continue to come in, please set your children up for success by explaining that class placements are subject to change based on enrollment. At any given time, it may be necessary to re-organize classes within the school to meet Ministry of Education standards. Please be mindful that many hours of care have been put into creating balanced classes to best meet the needs of our students and we ask that you trust our staff.

On the first day of school, teachers will be in our schoolyard holding a sign with their grade and name. For this first day only, you are welcome to bring your children into the schoolyard and see that they are settled in the proper line.
Parents and Guardians are respectfully asked to avoid entering the hallways or visiting the classrooms on the first day of school. With over 700 students, the goal is to have students in their respective classrooms as quickly with as few disruptions as possible.
Welcome to all our little ones as they come to join us in the big school! We are so looking forward to meeting you! Letters will be sent home in July with your interview dates and times.

This communication tool will be ordered for students and the money will be collected in September. We are informing you at this time, so that you can include this in your back to school budget.
Bus Transportation for Fall
Route information for your child is available online at the transportation website at www.haltonbus.ca. To access this information, you will need your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) which appears on the top of all of your child’s report cards. Courtesy seat forms will be available in the school office starting June 1st. Bus stops and times will be posted on the front doors of the school during the first week of September. Students should be waiting at bus stops at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled bus arrival time. Parents are encouraged to sign up for email alerts about late buses online at halotnbus.ca.
A special thank you to all of our volunteers who have assisted us throughout the past school year. If we already have your documentation on file, an annual declaration form will be sent home for you to complete for next school year. If you have never volunteered with us before, but would like to in the 2018-19 school year, you must obtain both a Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) and a Criminal Reference Check (CRC) at Halton Regional Police Services. Once you have received the CRC & VSS please bring it to the office. Please consider having this done over the summer, so you’re ready to go in September!
