Pray to have eyes that see the best in people, a heart that forgives the worst, a mind that forgets the bad, and a soul that never loses faith in God.

Virtual interviews will take place during the evening on Thursday, November 25th and during the day on Friday, November 26th.

P. A. Day – Friday, November 26th, 2021

This Friday, November 26th is a P.A. Day which means there will be no school for students.

Pizza and Milk are back!

This Monday marks our first pizza and milk day of the school year.  A huge thank you to our parent volunteers for all of their time and effort in bringing back such a popular event at SHOJ.

Pep Rally + School Spirit Day = LOTS OF FUN!

This Tuesday, November 23rd we will be hosting a Virtual Pep Rally and it will also be an SHOJ Spirit Day!  Students are invited wear their favourite sports or team jerseys, Sacred Heart of Jesus Spirit Wear or our SHOJ colours of Navy Blue and Gold. Any students deciding not to participate are expected to be in uniform.

End of Day Dismissal

We are kindly asking for parent/guardian support with regards to end of the day dismissal.  If you are making changes to your child’s dismissal routine at the end of the day, could you kindly inform their teacher or the office prior to 3:00 p.m.  The end of the school day is busy both in the classrooms and the office. This will ensure that the information is communicated to all appropriate staff members in time to make the appropriate adjustments.

Parking Lots

The parking lots at SHOJ are busy places at the end of the day.  We kindly ask that when you arrive to pick up your child at the end of the day that you make use of any available parking spots first.  We have a large queue of cars at the end of the day which often extends into and blocks the parking lot entrance. This causes issues for our school buses who are arriving to pick up our students at the end of the day.  We understand that the parking lot is a busy place at the end of the day.  We urge all drivers to use caution and patience so that we can ensure the safety of everyone in our SHOJ community.

HCDSB Human Rights and Equity Advisory Council

People standing with a sign Human Rights and Equity Council

Our HCDSB schools are committed to creating safe, inclusive and welcoming learning environments that support student achievement and well-being in our Catholic schools. Human Rights and Equity are guiding values that are consistent both with Catholic Social Teaching, reaffirming the dignity of every individual, as well as the Ontario Human Rights Code, which safeguards students and staff from discrimination based on the protected grounds.

The Board’s Equity and Inclusive Education Steering Committee is in the process of forming a Human Rights and Equity Advisory Council (HREAC) to engage community stakeholders including parents, students and community organizations.

The purpose of the HREAC is to assist in identifying community needs and to provide advice and guidance on addressing systemic barriers and supporting historically underserved members of the 2SLGBTQ+, racialized and Black communities in the HCDSB.

Parents/guardians and students in Grades 7-12 interested in serving on the HREAC are invited to submit an application online through the HREAC Membership Application Form by December 31st.
