“To be grateful is to recognize the love of God in everything.”Thomas Merton
Happy Thanksgiving to all our SHOJ families. We hope that this long weekend provides you with the opportunity to spend time together and pause for a moment to remember that no matter how difficult life sometimes gets, there is so very much for which to be grateful.
Loving God, We turn our hearts to you on this day, for giving thanks mindful of our many gifts. For each one, we are grateful. For each one, we are blessed. For each one, we are opened to the abundance of your love. May this Thanksgiving Day, offer a reminder to be generous with others as you are with us.
We praise you. We rejoice in you. We give you thanks.
Food Drive October 12th – 15th
This Tuesday we will kick off our Fall Food Drive which will continue until Friday. We are asking our school community for donations of canned goods and any non-perishable food items for those in need. This initiative is being led by Mrs. Bowles’ Grade 8 class.
Halton Police Investigation Update
Parents received an email from the school this week updating them about the Halton Police investigation into the sighting of a stranger on our school property. Although this news is unsettling, we would like to reassure our SHOJ community that as a school we are taking all the necessary steps and precautions to keep our students safe. We continue to maintain vigilant supervision during all outdoor times. Mr. Susi and Mrs. Durand have also been present on supervision as much as possible. In our classrooms, all teachers have provided grade- appropriate lessons on stranger safety. On various occasions, Halton Region Police have been present and monitoring our school property in both marked and unmarked vehicles. Parents are reminded to reinforce the street proofing tips included in our previous email at home with their children. The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority and we will continue to work closely with HRPS to ensure information is shared as needed to keep our school and community safe.
Student Pick Up
This is a reminder that if a student is being picked up early, we ask that parents/guardians please report to the office, let us know that they have arrived by using the buzzer at the front door and identifying themselves and who they are picking up. For safety reasons, it is essential that all students sign out with the office before leaving and identify the parent/guardian they are leaving with.
Thank you SHOJ!
A tremendous THANK YOU to our SHOJ community for your participation in last week’s Terrry Fox walk/run. Through your generosity we raised over $1400! Well done SHOJ!
A special thank you to Mme Inch and Mrs. Frazer’s Grade 8 class for all of their time and effort putting together such a great day.
